15M Synergy kitesurfing

What settings are recommend for the straps for the 15M Synergy for kitesurfing? I met Geokite this weekend and he was on a 12 Syn while I was lit on my 12 Rise. So I am thinking the 15 may be comparable to my 12. What bar width do you use with the 15? I have only flown Arcs on land.

Me? Tips loose, center tight, max VPC. I used the widest bar cos I'm too lazy to change. Don't forget it's a C-kite though, you can't parS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-n'ride so easily ...

Which knot direction is max VPC? It is like a C so does that mean more working the kite or edging with the board or both?

i like loose gives much better up wind,

not sure on vpc maybe middle knot,

c-kite for sure with a stopper ball, it means speed and board control is the way to manage power.

I have everything set to the middle on the kite. Large Zero7 bar (60cm or was it a 65cm??) with the stock line set (27m). Riding a surfboard, I can keep up with the guys on 12's or 13's on the low end and still having tons of fun on it when they are coming in for their middle kites.

I flew mine with end straps loose, and center strap half tightened. VPC on the middle. I had to work it hard until I had 25 mph or more, so the 60cm bar was the right choice. You can get by with a 55, but the 60 is better IMHO.

On the Syn, all tight straps, factory setting VPC. Bar trim line all the way out

On the CH, factory setting only. Bar trim 50%

I noticed on the instructions the kite came with kook proof pigtails to put on the steering lines. Mine did not come with these. How long are they? I have some extra for my OR Rise that are about 6" long. Thanks for the input. It looks like everyone has different settings from loose to tight. I am 190lbs and will be giving it a go on the Mako King first.

The original ones are 1.5" long. However, I made 8" ones because the kite needed extensions due to wrong bridle dimensions with the first batch of Syns, if I recall. Seems to have done the trick.

Sounds like the middle is the best of all worlds :wink2:

The stock kook proofs are a couple inches long. It's tough to hook lines up securely without something on there. You can make your own with some small dia amsteel. Stock ones were red and grey.

That's interesting ... front bridle too long?

I have never adjusted the straps on my Syns but at the time the suggested setting was "everything in the middle to start" and add 8" to the rear lines for the 15 and 4" for the 10. Never thought of it before, was that the reason for the extensions? Do the extensions need to be added when you tighten the straps and shortened when loosened so you don't sacrifice bar trim to compensate? Does bar trim even change too?

I seem to recall when I was playing with mods on my G2's like tightening the leading edge strap or the trailing edge strap. I also needed to add extensions to the front lines or the back lines repectively to make up for the "shorter" straps in order to keep the proper trim. My memory of it is vague though because I often removed the mods shortly after applying them as they never satisfied me fully.

I think the tip straps alter the length of the rear lines a little - like a permanent trim ... well more permanent than trimming the erm trimmer :D and that's what it's all about - relative front/rear line lengths ... it'd be good to know what they're SUPPOSED to be ...!
