Brand New to the sport
I'm brand new to this sport and to this forum - just wanted to introduce myself and say hi to everyone. I took a kiting lesson practiced a LOT with
trainer over the last month or so. Just bought an ozone flow 3.0 and an ozone flow 5.0 (for snowkiting).
I got out on the landboard for first time last weekend (at Nahant Beach, Mass - Great spot!!) with the 3.0 in 10 to 15 mph wind and had an absolute
BLAST!!! All I can think about now is wind, wind, wind. I find myself watching weather channel all the time, downloaded a bunch of apps on iphone
for wind, watching leaves/trees for wind movement, etc.
Is it normal to be think about this stuff constantly all day? Are you folks the same way? I can hardly wait for snow to try snowkiting!!
Pray for wind!!!

welcome, wind disease is distracting but normal
find one local weather station that reflects your spot best and you'll have better success with solid useable fun sessions.
NOAA graphical for the big picture of the weeks and systems and a local well placed wind speed/direction report like wunderground (you need to KNOW
where this thing is and how high and any shadow points)

Welcome!
I'm in RI - shoot me a U2U if you plan on hitting Nahant once the post-Labor days hit.
Ugh, I have not flown in months and have a buggy to try out (which you are welcome to give a whirl as well)
No kites left
Maybe someday I'll snowkite again

Hello kaa my obsession started when a roommate infected my and I have been Jonsing for wind eversince getting my fixes wherever and whenever I can I
even fly at night just to get some of that sweet life juice
:P
Welcome kiss your wallet good buy
It's hard because you think ill get a few things and then stop because the winds free right
Wrong that's where they get ya you learn one thing and then wham somebody shows up with something u just got to have or a new avenue to go down
Once you've touched the sky shell never let you go and neither will we :bigok:
Sorry for the dramatic I was just remembering how the wind treats me

I'm afraid so. Every year when I buy a new financial diary, the first thing that gets written in it are kiting meets and low tides. All my customers
get juggled around them. I was never a 'beach' person. Now, it's where I want to be all the time.

True, we cannot control the wind. But we can control what size kite we put up, or we can say, nope, too gusty and unpredictable. Better to put up a
smaller kite and think - 'not enough, I'll put a bigger one up' than doing the opposite and thinking 'Oh sh i i i i i i i i i i i i it t tttt'

Welcome.
The disease cannot be cured. Symptoms can be relieved by getting your heinie out there when the leaves are rustling. Symptoms become aggravated when
the wind is up and other commitments prevail. For that, I prescribe PKF BID.

Welcome to our sport and yes we all spend a lot of time checking and thinking about the wind. I am sure you had blast, but I have to tell you it will
get even better as you become more proficient.
I am glad you discovered Nahant. It is my primary flying location and a great place to fly. All of the flyers there are quite approachable and are
willing to share their knowledge and equipment. Next time your down stop and say hi and we would love to help.
