Attack Lines

Another cautionary tale for the collective:
There is an "highly under used" parking lot near work that I have been meaning to try as a buggy location. Tuesday the wind was 6 -8 mph gusting to 12 -15 mph so I decided to try the parking lot with my low wind kites [6.8 m viper & 7 m NPW] on 15 m lines.

While walking down the lines the kite was caught by a gust and whipped up around my neck, I now look like I survived a garroting attempt from the line burn across my neck :o :puzzled::shocked2:

Later I backed over a curb and bonked my [helmeted] head on a light post, time to quit for the day:yes::yes:.

Whew, close one! Powering up at the wrong time seems to be how everyone I know gets line-injuries!

Glad to hear you are still with us!

Mood: They're ALL good ideas. Right up until they become BAD ideas.

Wow. Glad you're OK. I had a little (like .5m little) 2 line stunter launch on me as I was walking back to the handles, feeding the lines slowly through my fingers to hold the kite in launch-ready position. Smelled like burnt flesh. Scars to this very day.

The only plus was that I think it cauterized the wound 'cuz as deep as they were there was little bloodletting.

Crazy how quick it happens.
