There will be folks out on El Mirage Dry lake from probably thursday on...as for who will be there, we'll see once we get there. Go to Walt's cove(at the far end of the lake, on the right side) and look for Dooley's van.

Try to park and camp in a manner that does not offend the mayor. Introduce yourself, and have fun!

Sometime on sunday, dependant on the weather, our mood, and what the magic dice say, we will mosey over to Superior.

This, some say, has been the high point of our event for many years, and you never know, we may not be able to go back there again.

Directions for all sites are on the nabx.net web site, as our cell phone numbers if you get lost, just remember, most people will be in their buggy, so cell phones should be used as last resort.

I will be giving updates on this message board right up to and including during the event.

Since I will be in California before the pre-event I was thinking about going to Elmers on Thursday and camping for two nights. I was wondering how many people would be there camping starting on Thurs. Basically will it be safe for me to camp in buggy town.

Be sure to follow the gang to Superior on Sunday Susan (say that 3 times real fast). It really is one of, if not the finest lakebed(s) and this may well be the last chance to buggy there before the military swallows it up. Remind Joe to take lots of pictures too. ;)

Camping at Elmer's Thursday night

Hey, Susan! I will be at Elmer's Thursday evening, camping from then until we caravan out to Superior.

I'm in the white VW Eurovan Westfalia Weekender, with the front end of the roof popped up. I always fly Old Glory on a 20-foot pole and a Hypnotwister or spin-sock, so I'll be easy to spot.

So yes, you'll be safe at Elmer's... everyone trusts me with their lady friends... just ask anybody!

I'll be out there too Susan, so don't worry, it will be super hunky dorey! I may not spend the night, but will be there for sure.

I was out there this afternoon, winds were variable and light, but the lake surface was awsome!

There was some stoopid new carsonite posts placed around one of the tie downs, since the BLM hasn't anything to do out there, so naturally this caused someone to do donuts around them*sigh*. Oh well, it's still Walt's and we have the sign to prove it.

This will be the first time without our beloved Ranger friend Gina, and boy do i miss her already. I will however write her and let her know about our whole get together. She really cared about the lake.

The lake is now fenced completly and the only way in or out is from the main entrance.

If there are any changes, i'll post them here, so stay tuned.

After getting the report of snow at Elmers I think that I will only camp out one night. I will be driving in on Friday morn and camping that night. I will be sure and look for Dooleys van out on the playa. Just two weeks and counting the days till I get to buggy town.

How did he launch? Did someone have a tow rig or was he on a powered PG?

I met Tim Sirianni in Minnesota a few years back. He took off from a frozen lake! There was a large snowkite competition going on. He was flying a powered PPG then. Way cool to watch, I bet it's a HUGE rush to do it!

Yes, it was a powered paraglider. He and JD took turns with it in the morning.
