Phantom 15 KO for sale: OFF THE MARKET
I'm selling my 15M Phantom, kite only, for $275 plus shipping.
Has folding spars--one fiberglass, one aluminum. There is one tear in the skin patched with ripstop tape. Flies great, but I have a 16m Scorp. It's
just too redundant in my quiver.

Is that one pair of aluminum and one pair of carbon spars or do you have a mixed set of a single carbon and single aluminum?

It's a mixed set of spars. One was built from the good parts of the spars it came with. The other was built from the good parts of the set that came
out of my Scorp 16. It does not seem to suffer from the mis-match.
More details: it has the middle zippers only, no end zips.

OK I really should have weighed that thing before I left the house. :-( Anyone have a guess as to the weight of a phantom 15, KO, no bag, sand shaken
out?
For reference, the kite will ship from Florida, zip code 32605.
And by the way, UPS.com is begging for a postal code to calculate the shipping to Canada.

For the original Phantoms they were all colour specific to size - when there were a few sizes that had updated to two zippers it seems like they were
all gold and not too many made. It throws you off when you see a gold 9 and 15 (originally 12s were gold)

Images updated with pics of the spars. I will also include a sausage bag with the kite. The bag is handy for protecting the kite if you transport it
with the spars in.
I weighed the spars. The carbon spar weighs 120g while the Al spare was 119g. Like I said, I can perceive no issues the mismatched spars. I assure
you they are cut the the very same length and fit great.
Packed, the kite will weigh in under 9 lbs and measure 30" x 8" x 8". It will ship from USA, 32605. I can go USPS or UPS. I am looking for a
sturdier box, but the kite is otherwise ready to go.

If an 18M is comparable in power to a 12M LEI on water, as I have read on the forum, what size LEI would a 15M Phantom compare to? 10.5M? I have only
used my 18 on land in low wind. Anyone out there have experience with the 15 on water? I wonder if it would work well with a race board since it is
a high aspect ratio? I notice the 18 does not bowtie. The 9 is easy to bowtie if under inflated or if you over shoot it on a turn and let it luff.

i used a 15 phanny on water for a while... good kite when the 19 got outta control... i flew it in winds up to about 25mph... the only drawback is its
slow turning speed.... no loops and sometimes you really had to toss it around to get some power out of it...
i weigh 200 and needed at least 20mph winds with the 15phanny

P 15 more like 13m lei on the water. a little slow on the turns.
super stable. can deliver speed crazy in a nice flat spot in 20- 25mph.
if you have an p18, a p15 is gonna turn the same. not til you get in the <12m size will turning improve.
for the water there good, but not like a venom

Also keep in mind that kites have changed a lot - back when using a Phanny 15 on the water I was also using C shaped kites - the newer LEIs also have
more bottom end and if it's a used Phanny then a well twinskin will loose a little off it's bottom end.
What was already said is still a pretty good guide for most people, the power comparison to a smaller LEI - around a 12. Back a number of years ago
the P15 had more range on the top end compared to the LEI - not so different anymore. Yes it's also slower turning so you need to really throw the
kites around a lot more on the light to moderate part it's range. Nice and stable though. Used my P15 up to some pretty good winds in the winter just
couldn't get it going as fast I wanted though - could get around 55-58mph on skis in nice conditions but hard to get much more speed out - upwind was
great.

I did a leak check on the kite. It sat inflated in the yard for 25 minutes and barely changed. I added more photos to document this in the Flickr
collection.
I also added two videos. One shows my squishing the kite 26 minutes after inflation. The other provides a thorough inspection of the kite looking
for stains (there are some) and wear points (there are NONE). I show the zips working, check the pocket ends, check for wear on the back side,
trailing edge, and reinforcements, and inspect the patch.
The kite is in very good shape. It's lost some crispiness and the blue green panels on the back side show some fade, but the condition is very good.
Watch the longer video and judge for yourself.

I'll have to pass on the Ovando as I just purchased CheddarHead's 13m Scorp to fill a gap in my quiver. So the Phantom really needs to turn into cash
to pay the bill for that and a bar for the new kite.
In unrelated news my office is about to start a project where we collaborate with some folks at the university in Charleston. They are talking about
doing a face to visit visit soon. I'm thinking it needs to be on a Thursday or Friday in Charleston. I could drive solo, bring some kites, a buggy,
etc. I'm dying to buggy on the sandbar there. That looks so cool.
