......if I leave at 8:00pm Friday night........plus 16-17 hours..........I'd be there roughly noon/1:00 Saturday.........play for five hours or so,
sleep in the car at the approach and hit the road for home by 11am Sunday morning so I'd be home in plenty of time for the wife to get up to go to
work.

I was thinking you could stay a few days at my place in Portland and then you could go to the gorge too! Anytime my friend.
I plan to use the Del Ray beach access and will buggy there if there is good wind, if not I will drive to Sunset.

At what point in the tides does the beach typically become "usable" down there in general?
Low tide point is Max beach, but at what point between low and high is the "cut off" or usable point? 1/2 way or just a few hours each side of low?

It depends a lot on wind direction. The more that it is off from being straight onshore, the more beach ya need. So if it is straight on, especially
this time of year, you can go all day. A NW or SW I usually consider anything below a +4 or 5 pretty ride-able. Bigfoots help a lot though. As far
as "at what point between low and high is the "cut off" or usable point?", the high's and low's vary a lot between the cycle so it is hard to answer
that one. Half-way is usually pretty safe.

The entire beach is fine now. Jeff was even able to confidently use the approach in his big MH.

It was a great day at the beach and one of our last before winter takes it grip. The beach was in great shape after the past few storms and the tide
gave us a look at how big it can really get.
