I purchased a HQ symphony 2.2 and was wondering what any one thought of the kite. I really like it and being a first timer with the foil kites any tips, tricks that i can use would be really helpful:cool:

OO,

What sort of tricks are you looking for?
Foils don't do axels and pancakes and yo-yo's like deltas can.

Heading into power kiting?
Want to learn traction kiting?

Try this: I call it "Kite Chi"
After becoming comfortable doing loops with the kite,
Next time, as the kite is looping in the sky, raise your arms over your head and turn around, untwisting your lines as the kite twists them.
It's not about your lines.
It's about how loud our eyes have become.
Our world is so very visual, we've locked our eyes on the kite.
I think our brain forgets we have other senses.

We have a direct physical connection to the kite through the lines.
Turning our back to the kite momentarily takes our eyes out of it, allowing our fingers to begin to listen to the kite.
Learning the tactile language the kite uses tells us "Where It Is" and "Where It's Going", the most important information, and available non-visually.

In traction kiting, we need to pay attention to where we're going, not where the kite was.
Learning these skills and becoming comfortable in that place builds a solid foundation of knowledge that keeps you safe and keeps this all fun.

There's more... But that'll do for now.

The HQ Symphony series has been out for quite a while and has sold pretty well for them. They are as you can see pretty well made for the price point. It is a fun two line kite to fly that in a good blow will give your arms a good workout.

To add to Corey's fine advice

Fly in light wind(something around 10mph) at first it will be easier to control the kite.

Try making very consistant infinity(sidewides eights) symbols. Try doing them where you upturn to bring the kite back across the wind window. Once you feel comfy with that try down turning to bring the kite back across.

To take that figure to the next level when you upturn instead of just turning right back into the window make a full circle so you have the kite fly a full loop on each end of your sideways figure eight. Then do two loops each side. Then try doing the same thing but down turning. You can make this figure a small part of the window or the whole window. As your skills increase you can make the figure just on the right side of centerline or the left or top or bottom.

When you get that done then do the same thing, but instead of a sideways figure eight, making a regular vertical eight with all the combos, variations, sizes and positions in the window mentioned above.

Good luck this should keep you busy for a little bit
