Looking to hook up and watch some boarding and buggy riding. I'm fairly new to power kiting (Spring of this year) I have been static flying as often as the wind allows in my location. (Central, Ma) I thinking of a next step? Do I want to try kite boarding? or may be a buggy or am I too old for that kind of stuff (52)?? Anyway I have seen a lot of videos on this forum and youtube but I would love to watch up close. I went out to Nahant beach this past weekend hoping to see some sort of kiting but nothing. Other then my kite the only other kite in the sky was a large water kite. Maybe I was in the wrong location or maybe just bad timing on my part. I have heard that many people kite at Nahant Beach So maybe someone has some info on a good time to go. I'm about 1:45 min drive to Nahant so I'm hoping to see more next trip.

When were you there? There was about a half dozen of us there on Sunday and Monday and others on Saturday. The winds were real low this past weekend and the beach was in awful shape (too much seaweed) but we were there from noon - 6ish

Typically we are there every weekend the wind is up from about 3 hours before low tide until however long people want to stay as the tide comes in.

Where exactly do you guys kite? I was there Sunday from around 10:30 till
1:30. I was on the beach on the east side of the causeway. But I did drive all the way up and down the coast looking for other kiters with no luck.
Are there any get togethers planed for this Fall? If you know of a good time for me to try to check it out again please let me know. I wish it wasn't such a drive for me to go. I wouldn't mind it too much if I could hook up with some of you guys. I'm just a spectator at this point when it comes to land boarding or buggying. But I would love to watch and learn.

Well, I got there on Sun and Monday around 3:30 each day so I can't tell you who was there around 1:30 but that was still 3 hours before low tide and with all the weed and far more people on the beach then normal because of the warm temps, I'm assuming no kites were up at that point.

Typically (Sept - May) we set up around the half way house (the beach house halfway down the parking lot). If there is a lot of beach traffic we set up closer to section 9 (the beach is over a mile long and each 1/10th of a mile is marked by a station # 1-?. The numbers start at the Tides (restaurant) side of the beach.

I don't think I can get out this upcoming weekend and the next weekend is WildWood and I know some of the locals are going there (but I most likely won't be going). If you know you can get out some weekend, post here and those of us who follow this board will post back if / when we are going. As a general rule, if the wind is blowing 10mph or over and has any E or W direction to it, we are there 2-3 hours either side of low tide.

I don't go at all during high tide and if the winds are under 10 or over 30 I'm less likely to be there.

Sorry I didn't see you last Saturday, I got down around 2 and guess I just missed you. Give us heads up before your next trip and I am sure that some of us will be there for you. The long range forecast for this Saturday is looking quite good think you could make it down?

I don't think that at 52 you are too old for the sport. I am not very far behind you and many are older. It is a skill and not a strength sport and being older is not a handicap.

Welcome aboard! I just started kiting a few months ago and been learning to kite with the landboard. Loads of fun and everyone at Nahant is super friendly and extremely helpful. I'm Paul and I have the blue Ozone Kite and wear the black "8 Ball" helmet.

I'm usually there every weekend but won't be there this weekend - wind is supposed southeast at 20 to 30 MPH so I will be cranking it on the windsurfer instead!! To dangerous for me to kite in those winds since I'm still new to the sport.

BUT IT'S NEVER TOO WINDY TO WINDSURF!!!!!

It sound like the next couple of weeks might be slow at Nahant Beach with Wildwood coming up. I'm hoping to go myself next year. Maybe on the 29th I can make it to Nahant Beach weather permitting. If anyone else decides to go that Saturday maybe you can drop me an email to let me know.
