That is the king riding mutant in the pic. The makos don't have pop but they make it up for it in speed so you go fast, load up, send it pull in the
bar and away you go.

Not sure where the forum is based. I actually got the info on the pass and TR recruiting from OR's Twitter feed. Not sure why you are getting
hassled, and if they wanted a minimum number of posts, they should have specified that in the original post and not linked to the forum on Twitter
(which would obviously pull in folks that don't normally read KiteScoop).
Will contact OR and see if I can pry loose some more details.

The 'net and forums in particular are full of people that jump at the opportunity to bludgeon people with cited rules even if the infraction was made
innocently. Internet & Measured Responsed are too often mutually exclusive.

I assumed "Scoop" had to do with the news aspect of the the website. I assume the forum is using a canned template with a Star Wars theme.... with
the white/vanilla Storm Trooper icons it does make for a combination where it's tempting to assume that there was some designed intent there when
there might not be.

Yeah what is annoying is if there are ruloes, POST EM where people can find them. I skimmed around for a bit and never found any rule or
notifications about post counts etc. I can't argue it makes sense with a pass around, but say something 1st.
THEN if I post you can comment away :-p

Wow some really high class winners over on that site.. I have contacted the OR rep directly on it and will let you know. Sounds like he is getting
pretty severe grief as well. I am going to invite him to this forum where he and his products will get a fair, thorough and CLASSY review.:bigok:

I reported it. Let them give me crap I really don't care. That was just out of line. I get the feeling the avg age of the forum regulars/mods over
there is in the mid to low teens who think they are all that...
Nothing against you younger generation were were all there once (except maybe Indigo, I think he might be a :borg but they have no respect for anything or any manners.

Really sorry for the grief. Originally heard about the pass on the OR twitter feed, so I would have thought that there would have been an implicit
pre-vetting of forum. Apparently not. Given the forum's atmosphere, perhaps OR would be amenable to changing the venue..... to just about any other
forum.

I can talk to John at O.R. to see about doing a Canadian kite pass. In general they rely on dealers to make kites available to anyone to try. I
haven't got the new cipher to demo but I do have the new Rise and Flite - thinking I might have to get the Cipher for more wave riding sessions.
Anyone in my area (southern Ontario) is always welcome to try any of my gear out.

How do you like the new Rise and Flite? Your input encouraged me to get OR kites and they have been great! I have an 09' and 10' Rise model. I
actually like the 09 with the center strut better.

Hey Adrian
Haven't had enough luck with wind yet to get a good go of it to see how much difference there is in performance. It was swirly on/off wind when I took
a new 10 Rise out but after working the kite to get away from the crap shoreline wind I was a distance out and a gust and swirl and the kite went way
overhead and behind then slack lined and sat on my ass in the water watching it drift back down overhead doing a nice twist - #@%$#!e. Managed to turn
it and get it to untangle the line and called it a day - that's been the only chance on the water in the last month. But this weekend is calling for
40km west wind so I'll get out and surf (getting really cold though) and then hopefully a good buggy session. way too much to try out the Flite.
I'll update you once I get a better feel for the new shapes - especially with the reduced strut configuration on the Flite.
I've heard good reviews on the Cypher and thinking for our days when the wind is up it's always waves so I should be getting into those in a 7 or 9
but was really impressed with my 2011 7m Rise so hate to retire it after only two sessions on it (what an overall lousy year for kiteboarding around
here).
Bottom line - if you get on the Cypher kite pass I think you'll like the ride - might not be what everyone is looking for depending on riding style
though as it sits deeper in the wind window for steady power

I will put it through the paces if it makes its way here. I plan on going back to the coast to get better at wave kiting since the season is done in
the river delta. I really liked the 7 North Fuse I got the last time I was out in high wind.
How is the low end of the 7m Rise? I have found my 2010 9m with 6 struts easier to backstall than the 2009 12m with the center strut. The objective
of removing the center strut was for improved aerodynamics and lower weight in the center of the kite but it is possible that the rigid wing structure
has been sacrificed without the center strut. I want to see how the Cypher with 6 struts (no center strut) performs. I have become used to the way
the 2010 flies. It is just more sensitive to bar input with stalling. If I let the bar out more, it flies faster. I checked my bar and lines and all
are in tune.
