Kite size for landboarding?

Trying to figure out if I will need a larger kite to landboard. My board is on its way (mbs comp 16 pro). Right now I have a Ozone 2.5m Quattro and a Peter Lynn 3m Hornet. I'm a big guy at 250lbs I'll be trying to learn at Nahant beach when possible. Will I need a bigger kite right away or should I wait? Also what size kite should I be thinking about?
Thanks for any advice, Mark

If you are wanting to do anything more than ride up and down beach on the ground yes you need a good bit more canopy over you. The 3m will yank you 10ft up, but then drop you even faster..

If all you want to do is go up and down beach like a buggy then the 3m will work depending on wind speed.. One of the pros will chime in on a size for ATB trick riding..

You will need a bigger kite for sure or you will only be able to ride in 20+ mph wind days and when the winds are 20+ they are usually gusting to 30+ so that is less then ideal to be learning to ride in.

At your weight you are going to want a 5m for moderate winds in the low to mid teens or a 10m depower.

Ideal riding conditions to learn on are 10-15ish.

High winds are tricky and low winds are just frustrating.

You've got a hundred pounds on me and I couldn't get going on a 2.5 or 3 until around 15 and I'd put them away around 25.

I may be going to Nahant tomorrow afternoon if I can coordinate a ride home for my son from soccer.

Sunday forecast looks crap. Tomorrow afternoon looks good but then dropping off (12 - 8mph).

You will not be powered at 12 or 8 mph but you may be able to work the 3 at around 12mph to get rolling down wind OK (but you won't get back upwind).
