Any kite junkies/collectors out there?

I'm always on the prowl for my next kite. Looking for the best or ideal models and sizes.

Anyone else out there always on the lookout for your next kite purchase?

---

I've had my 6.9 for a while now and have yet to have winds that suited flying it. I might here shortly. I know there are days because I've been there before when I couldn't buggy with my 5m.

My smaller kites get the most use. Sub 2m if it's really windy(not as often), 2m as my primary and the 3m when the 2 just isn't quite getting it done. The 4m and 5m don't see nearly as much use. Some really specific wind conditions bring them out. I've had times when it was the 5m all day. Once when the 5 was just a bit much and made use of the 4 all day.

My last kite session out was really good(what if a forum topic was started that was an ongoing journal entry of sorts of all of ours consisting of a summary of ride notes from our last time out?)

Wind was dicy and had to decide between starting out on a 2m or a 3m. Safest choice would have been to start out on a 2m(or even safer for ultimate safety, the 1.7). Something about the wind that day, it just wasn't quite 2m conditions. Played it safe and got out the mild 3m Beamer IV. Good choice to warm up with. Flew it till the wind seemed to drop off and I just wasn't as powered up as I prefer. Parked it and got out the 3.9m PL ViperS. Was good and interesting and different from the Beamer. The ViperS has some serious power and grunt! Buggied around a while in it till the wind started to pick back up. It got to the point where I was overpowered to the extent that I could not go anywhere I chose. I could not go upwind. I was limited to a straight line back and forth. At one point I was almost standing on the foot pegs briefly(gust!). Parked it and got out something different. Got out the 2m Pansh Flux. Fast little kite. I was very surprised that it was. It's also made out of some very, very slick material. I still don't care for the massive and excessive bridle though nor do I care for the plain all the same color kite strings. Challenging and fun kite to fly. Flew it till it was lacking in power. Parked it and got out the 3m Flow. Supreme kite. A delight. If you don't own a Flow; pick one up and compare it to all else you've flown. Marvelous and splendid kite. Most kites have certain traits and characteristics to them. Wadding up mid flight, bow tie, folding in half, etc, etc, we've all seen them. None of that stuff happens with the Flow's. Fly everything else, then pull that kite out for a comparison flight. Impresses me every time.

Saturday, ~12pm-5pm

Real on/off gusty wind. This showing wind averages doesn't even begin to describe the actual conditions.
