Shortening leader lines w/ pigtails
Can someone post a picture w/ a little blurb of info so I can understand exactly what this entails?
I think pigtails and I see a little girl on her way to school. :fail:

priceless...
a wind of change has a shop site has a tutorial on line stuff..
basically make a loop, resulting in the desired length, and square knot the ends.
dacron poly, paracord. make sure that the lines within the knot lay parallel and smooth. paracord definitely a second choice. amsteel line is
the industries choice if availible. i use dacron poly, 17 cents a foot and makes great sleeving as well.
and just a check on direction, ... adding pigtails lengthens a line , usually rear lines at the kite end, not shorten.

so this won't work?
I only need to take off about 3-4 inches on each side. The lines more than likely got stretched, they sag when flying, while the brake is taught
regardless of pull on the bar. I could extend the brake lines I suppose; but the problem seems to be leader stretch. I'd rather correct an issue than
over compensate and create another.

it can be used to KOOK proof line attachments and add LENGTH.
knots added to the leader at the bar end will give means to shorten. nothing to do with pigtails

this is a gratuitous image shot ...BUT note the bar end leaders from the END of the bar they go up and have knots along the line so you larks head on
at a lower or higher point. the excess above the knot just dangles . this is a means of shortening easily in the field. they can be inverted where
the knots are even closer to the bar if you choose.
this is a easy shortening step

thanks Sam ....and to supplement that "over hand" or FIG. 8 is fine. the fig. 8 is claimed to preserve line strength rating better esp. in the
stopper knot use. prolly TMI but ... i like cautions disclaimer and as myself i am for entertainment purpose only, hence the gratuitous image with
gravity check action.

Make your pigtails longer than you currently need. Your power lines will continue to "creep" and you will soon need longer pigtails.
Newbies: Don't cut off that extra brake line at the bridal on your new kite. You will eventually need that extra line.

Is it possible to design for strength, if the designer doesn't really understand what strength is?

so the consensus is extending the brake lines instead of shortening the leader?

depending on which kite it is...if its your FS, then you have a different route, there is a black rope above your trimmer that you can shorten, which
brings in the front lines.

What kite?
With depowers, you can meddle with the front lines ... with fixed bridles, you need to do something else ...
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Saber 1 or 2?
The Saber 2 has a ton of extra center line below the trim. I would start there. It took me a while to find the sweet spot for me on my 12 and 7m but
I got it eventually. More bar throw and faster turning all by lengthening that center line.
The Saber 1 on the other hand turned on a dime and out flew every other depow foil I saw at the time. Beautiful kite until the vents started to
shrink. Slingshot stepped up and replaced the kite with a Saber 2 and sent it from the UK express mail.

nice unit , should be all at the trim for you. knots are already there on stock bar end leader lines.
get moving, trim it in about half way and slowly let it out as you ride. as you get going if its TOO much pull more in. you r gonna get a ton use
with the 9.5

How the heck did that work?!?! :puzzled:
I thought Sabres were Flexifoil. Standing behind someone else's product would certainly be very impressive though.
