Snowkite Soldier

I want to take my first snowkite trip this winter. I was thinking Flagstaff, but it seems very few people do that and is highly dependent on conditions. Could anyone with experience at Snowkite Soldier up in Fairfield Idaho tell me if driving up there without 4 wheel drive or chains is plausible? I just dont know how the roads are and if the event is far from kept up roads. Also how is the camping up there? Are there spots close or even on the event site to camp at? I have snow camping experience btw..
Thanks!

I dont think the dates are set, but it should be the end of Feb.
Thats it really.. you just need to make sure you have the right stuff to get and keep you warm.

Kite Soldier looks fun but you have many places closer to you that you could hit up in Utah. Or you could do a multi stop trip and hit those spots on your way up. If you come up I-15 through Southern Utah hit me up and I'll show you some spots around here.

I think a couple of people might have slept in their cars last year. Flash told me about people with those plans but I didn't go last year. I think the roads up there are actually well maintained and would be passable with a two wheel drive. There are a couple of locals on here and one of them would give better info.

Dman, when is the best time to take a trip to St. George? I might take you up on that.
In fact if early February is good, i might tie that in on the way up or down from the u.s. open snowkite masters. i have relatives in Provo, so thatd be a bonus. :D
I kinda want to go to an event because i only get to fly by myself and sometimes with greasehopper.. would love to meet new people and pick up some skills from seeing in person.

Thanks everyone for the info! Much appreciated!

Early Feb sounds good. We could meet down at Ivanpah for a day and then head up to Brain Head and do some snow kiting. I thought about going to SKM last year but I have a trade show that always seams to land on the same week. PM me around the first of the year and we can go over a few details.
