Hi everyone,

You probably get asked this question all the time but I'm a complete noob so here it as again anyway.

What 4 line kite should I buy for my first power kite? I want somthing with some power and maybe even get a little bit of air too. I weigh about 10 stone (65kg).

I can't spend any more than £100 max. I was considering this Pansh Legend 3m kite on Ebay. Is this any good? What other kites would you suggest I look at?

I don't know what the currency conversion would be but I always recommend the Peter Lynn Viper or Viper S as a first kite. It is one that is a blast to fly but is a bit more advanced so you will really never out grow it and if you start with the 2.6m it will def be your go to high wind engine down the road.....

I started on Pansh years ago and if you get a good one that is set up right great..... my first Pansh Legend was great flew well..... got me hooked to this sport.... my second Pansh Legend was delivered with the bridles stacked wrong and it would not stay in the sky...... if it wasnt for kite forums and having a good kite to compare to I would have never got the bridle stacked correctly on my second kite and got it flying......

It was a great learning experience..... it taught me a lot about fixed bridle kites...... but if it would have been my first kite that came that way I may have walked away from a wonderful sport.....

That being said I do have a couple of the new Flux kites and a Blaze 3m from Pansh and they are very good kites. I would still not put them in the same league as Peter Lynn, Ozone or Flexi when it comes to quality or stability in the air. When I travel I do toss the 3m Blaze in my carry on so I always have something with me so I can fly....... The 3m Blaze in my opinion is a much better call than the 3m Legend..... but both kites have been around for quite some time now.....

I haven't looked through the for sale section to know what is out there, but you may find a deal on a good used kite.

Buy a good used kite...... or save up and get a new PL Viper S....... just my humble opinion......

Pansh has improved quality but unfortunately left a bad taste in many flyers mouths.... Goof's experience is totally not-out-of-the-ordinary, but everyone says Pansh has really improved over the last few years.

I also wholeheartedly recommend being on the lookout for a good deal used, either here or a more local to-you forum (http://forum.kitecrowd.com/sale/). Where are you at in the UK? It would be best if we could hook you up with someone who could give you a go on theirs and a bit of beginner teaching!

BE CAREFUL on ebay, there are a few unscrupulous sellers, always check any other items for sale by a ebay seller, if they are selling a bunch of totally random crap like inkjet refills, or have other auctions containing sob stories like "I bought 4 kites as a package deal from "reputable seller named X" but they would not accept a return so Now I must sell at a loss", that's a scammer!

Best first kite... almost any used 3m you can find in the for sale section on these forums. I suggest going this route if your budget is a concern. Your overall experience will be a better one with a used, quality, kite over a cheap eBay kite, not to mention having some resale value should you decide to go with something different. Can't go wrong with Peter Lynn, HQ, or Ozone. Just stay away from the higher AR kites like race kites.
