It's only about 300 miles from Alvord Dry Lake.

Thanks Morrie but thats a little further than i would like to drive. Sunset Beach is probably closer than that from Bend. ;)

I emailed Michael at Kiteline.com (located in Bend) and he said there are some dry lake beds about an hour East of town. I've tried Google but have yet to find anything about them. Will keep looking.......

One of the land sailor guys talked about a small lake south of Bend. I think it was Loco or Local lake? I'll check in with him and see if I can get you any additional info.

Found out that there are quite a few shallow lakes that dry up in the Summer out near Paisley, which is about 2 hours from town. Newell Creek Lake, Summer Lake and Loco Lake are some that are out there. Summer Lake seems to be the biggest at approx 12x7 miles so I'll be checking that out this Summer.

Great! If you find some usable and closer than Alvord it will be really nice.

Currently it's a 12 hour drive for us to Alvord.

Good Luck!
Morrie
