Hey Bob- it was a bit slow as you said. I didn't expect it to spend so much time on setup and clothing and stuff- I would have liked more specifics
on technique when on the snow. Maybe I'm expecting more than is there- seemed like I basically do what I do in my buggy but with skiis/snowboard on
my feet : )
I'm glad I had a chance to see it- there were one or two things that I remember thinking "Hey, that's a good idea," but I can't remember what they are
now :puzzled:

Yeh, I feel pretty good about the kite, but it's the "teaching the old dog to snowboard" that's holding me back. haha I have learned enough to know
how to put on the brakes, and going down hill it is a plus, but I tend to apply them a little too early for the kite, and have consistently choked the
kite out before really getting up and going, at least this is how it seems in my minds eye. With the hit our health care benny took this year, I
figure this is the year for me to just go for it, because next year I'll have to pay for it all myself! I just gotta grow some HOOJ ones! haha The
parts about what to bring when away from your set-up were helpful, we don't usually have that far to walk, but even 1/2 mile in thigh deep or deeper
powder can feel like 10 miles without snowshoes. I'm still drooling over the ones Sam posted. I hope you have fun in Montreal, and north!

If anyone wants to go with their kites to Sandy Hook ......please ..... DON'T USE BUGGIES .......we have been told not to use them ....... you can
static fly and snowkite on the beach and try not to piss off park rangers since there is not that many places in NJ where we allowed to kite .......
For buggy session please go to Island Beach Park where we got provision to do that ........
.
Mike ..... hope we will get our snow here this winter for few sessions ...... Our ice location is Bud Lake ....it is very popular with ice boats,
ATVs, cross bikes and all other fun ice vehicles ...... too busy sometimes...... If you snowboard .... check this device http://www.powerkiteforum.com/viewthread.php?tid=19470&p...

How to Snowkite video was first one that I watch . Before that forum that was my only source of information and help....... It help me to get going
on snowboard ..... however .... since i never use depower kite before I was disappointed that there was no explanation how depower kites work ......
I have bar pulled in all time because I was thinking that gives me more power and make kite fly ..... I backstall kite all time and have problem
getting it in air ....... after few days of experiments I found my problem ..... and get going very fast ..........

Good for you, Kober. That Swichblade is one wicked looking piece of kit! I have watched Todd's video IDK how many times! I must say I saw a guy do
the same thing on his snowboard edge, on the ice and it was very impressive!

@Kober Man that is one cool looking attachment for the snowboard. Gotta think it through though- $200 could put another kite in my quiver... :sniff:
decisions, decisions...
@Bob I feel your pain. I'm a little nervous about the snowboard- I'm a skiier, so I think I would feel confident on skiis, but a board seems like a
more natural position to me. I'm bringing both and hoping for the best!

Mike- If you have never ridden a snowboard before (either downhill or any other discipline) you may find snowkiting with a snowboard difficult. If you
get an opportunity to try some downhill riding with a snowboard before you kite, I think it will help you get a feel for how the board feels when you
are moving...
@ragden thanks for the headsup. I actually have ridden a snowboard a few times, so I have the basic sense of it. I can carve turns and go heelside
to toeside (at least I could the last time I tried, which was a long time ago ; ). Problem is I'm a pretty good skiier, and since I have to give up a
day of skiing to snowboard I just usually don't go for the board. I figure I'll probably try it with skiis and board to see if I have a preference,
and then work on getting better with whichever one works. I kinda hope it's the board though, because walking in ski boots isn't much fun past a few
yards

Totally understand the sentiment. I've never skiied at all. I love snowboarding, and riding a snowboard under kite-power is ... awesome. It is also
very similiar (in some ways) to riding on the water. So the two skills DO relate (moreso if you have a snowkite specific board).
I'd say give it a shot, see what you like. I know some people really prefer skis, while others prefer boards. I personally think both have their
places. Skis are great on hard pack or icy conditions and the board is AMAZING in 2+ feet of powder. While the reverse isn't always true.
I imagine to be a serious skud competitor I would have to master the down loop and /or death spiral , my question is, does a bowtied arc have as much
power as a comparable death spiraling foil. I need to know which one to practise with. Nice blue sky day to be on the beach... hope to see you guys
somewhere this winter.
