So my new problem is ...

... what to do when you boost a good sized jump then get picked up by a gust and go even higher but loose all forward momentum and end up at the zenith just dangling under the kite going "WTH do I do now?" :wee:

I just hung on and plopped down on my bum  gotta be a way to land and ride off :ticking:

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

This happens at our local lake a lot. Usually what I'll do is leave the kite at 1 or 11 and as I'm descending, bring the kite down the opposite way down hard (think of it as doing a powerstroke to get you up and planing). This will give me forward movement which will allow me to plane once I land. Timing is critical on this, too early and you'll plummet, too late and you'll still plummet then get dragged. Remember to point the your board in the direction your going otherwise your board will slip out from under you. Once you land start edging against the kite to put tension back on the lines and so you don't start sinking. You may have to incorporate a downloop after landing to give you some extra speed.

You could also do a late loop with the kite above you and ride downwind as the kite comes around. Once again, point your board downwind on landing ride a second or two then edge hard to tension the lines and get the kite toward the edge of the window. Timing this properly is important as well.

Is this your 21M? If looping is possible with that monster then I agree with BB...................grab that bar on the very most outside position possible and crank it! You practice this move on your turn transitions as well..................

late loop in the most direct direction . head back, point the board keep it together, brace for speed maybe even a hard redirect in new direction .

having the kite follow you down like in a down loop is gonna give more forward speed.

sometimes you have to think "so much for the forward jump this just turned into a transition"! send the kite in the new direction hard and as soon possible

when you go up keep feeding the bar "back and forth " with little movements in flight it will help stabilize your glide and make ready for redirection when you need it.

Cool, thanks for the tips!

Yes was with the 21 ... probably the highest I've been under a kite :o and DAMN at the estuary, there's only about a half meter of water there :ticking:
Looping at the top of jumps like that is going to take some massive cajones though ...!

when you get tired of being dropped ...you;ll add direction to fill it in and never look back.

keep the kite active and you'll do it and not even realize it as your smoking the away from the landing.

if you had a smaller kite you could try to loop it :) Drop and pull in for a soft landing or head to 1:30 :/ I can only imagine getting relofted on the 21...

the kite will go around, just let it know EARLY enough for it come together,

on big kites, always start the loop from as high as possible. the more speed the more better!

all you need is the span of the kite from the ground at the least and the kite speed to down loop it. from the top for starters is a good place without slamming it in the ground. back loop is up looping no problem.

in an jump/air senario unit is already on top , JUST SEND IT BACK !

start with your 13 just a little unpowered and you'll have it easy.

Kite-loops are commitment when i learned I always start on the way down from a boost ALWAYS on the way DOWN when learning a loop. keep your trailing hand near the center of the bar reach back to the very end of the trailing side of the bar (yes both hands on same side ie: cajones) and pull like you are swinging a bat. Commitment over! The kite loops or not sometimes when I was learning with a small kite, I would have to loop twice cause I cranked on it too hard.

Commit Commit Commit Commit Youtube helps too

yep

same unhooked actually

go on a smaller kite and be under powered and just loop to ride with a ton of kite action in light air (what ever that is for you)

a down winder on smaller unit that requires alot action will teach you ton about looping action and once you do a few low altitude pops with a loop in light air, it'll be disease you can't get rid of, promise
