What a great day!

Today, my buddy called and said hey, the winds blowing over here! So I hooked up the trailer, told my son to load up in the truck and off we went. After going to the shop and working on the buggy for a few minutes, we headed out to the field. It was My son, me, my buddy, and his son. My buddy's son Logan is 9, he has a 3m Hornet, My son is 8 he has a 1.4m Beamer. Well today he said he wanted to try his sister's kite. It is a Viper 2.6m. I told him we would have to see when we got to the field.

The winds were definitely on the low side so I told him yeah he could give it a try. He got it all laid out, strapped up some KS-P-A-M-L-I-N-K-s and launched away. He was having a blast. Logan got his kite out and he was having a blast. So both of us dad's just sat back for a while, no buggies out, nothing else fancy just watched the two boys fly them kites to no end! The winds picked up and they were scudding down the field then walk back up and start over again. They just couldn't get enough. They flew for an hour straight before they let us have a go!

These are the days that I love! Nothing fancy, just a couple of us dad's watching the boys have fun in a sport we all love.
They had just as much fun watching us fly for the little bit of time they left us before the sun set. Seeing my son progress has been the highlight of this past year. He is doing so awesome. Down looping it, Spins, braking, reverse launching, just totally awesome to watch.

Have a lot of fun, go teach a kid to fly a kite! I did!

That is a really inspiring story right there. I bought my boys a mountain board and kite a year or so ago and only wish that they would take to them. The allure of pokemon cards, lego and video games really keeps them more interested than getting out and having some fun outside. Its even tougher, when every other kid in town seems to have the same mentality. I counted 13 people in the last year with kids aged 8-11 that didn't even know how to ride a bike. The world needs more parents trying to encourage their kids to have this kind of fun, instead of what the media and general public are trying to encourage.

Great story!

I introduced my friends 15yr old son to power kites. At first he wasn't all that interested. Now 17 and a sponsored shop rider with ambitions to become the next Lewis Wilby. He lives and breathes landboarding. He doesn't talk about anything else.

We can spend 2 hours on the phone talking about the next session and all the moves he has planned out in his head.

None of this is down to me. What do I know about landboarding! I just give him a ride to the beach each weekend. It feels good to know that I may have had some influence in the path he has chosen.

His parents are pleased he's not hanging around the streets like other kids his age but on the beach in the fresh air all day. We usually pack away after dark too and the sky is lit with stars. It's another side to life that I wish other kids had the opportunity to see.

Can't tell you how many sessions I have spent getting other people going, especially kids. Those days are just as rewarding if not more than getting the time all for myself.

Great work guys.

Nice story!

Its always fun to get the kids involved! I've taken my nephew out a few times with me. He loves it but then again he likes flying the kite straight into the ground at full speed.... lol
We're working on that part. - He's 5 y/o btw.
