Some fun with the Rage

A nice experience overall, the wind was pretty stable. Not the biggest jumps, but still loads of fun.

Wow that was cool. You are a FAR BRAVER man than I am!! I'd be afraid a small kite like that would drop me out of the sky at height of the jump. Looked like a lot of fun though!!

nice jumps for a small kite and not too hard on the landings either. Don't try that on grass though. Easy way to tweak and ankle or hip.

You've got arms like Popeye the Sailorman (old cartoon charactor) how long have you been jumping with a fixed bridal on handles? Love that super soft sand!

Nice jumps for a 3.5m kite but man the landings look so harsh. What were the winds? Also in the background wow lots of kites. In oklahoma the most we see on the water is 6 to 8 kites and they are spread way out.

Thanks all. The wind speed on Saturday averaged between 25-30kph, gusting very rarely.

I've had the Rage for about 3 years now, one of which I didn't fly at all. Only ever flown with handles.

16 to 19 mph... wow! I would have guessed 25 to 30. That is one powerful kite!

Wow...very impressive jumps for such a small kite...just goes to show that any kite can lift in the 'right' winds!

I used to have a 6m Rage...this video made me miss that kite.

Awesome jumps. I do that stuff every time we go on vacation in the Outer Banks NC with my 3.5 rage (rasta). Love those soft sand landings which is way better then the corn fields I'm usually in. You should practice re-directing the kite while you are in the air. This will give you a super soft landing if done right. I always felt too that fooling around like this made you a way better kite pilot when put in certain situations. (able to stay in control). Happy New Year!

Nice! At least you were in deep white sand. I'd say not to bother jumping with the 3.5, landing are way to harsh. If you really want to jump get a bigger kite. The 6m rage is ok. But the rage does not have that much lift (or float). so you can jump like that on the rage then either the wide was too much or you have decent technique ;) The 4.7 twister in the same wind would probably launch you 50ft into the air :D the 4.7 is about the smallest I'd personally go. Too many twisted ankles and unexpected shell cuts. Yes you can jump with a 3.5, but you are more likely to get yanked and hurt. And a gust at the top end of the rage will really yank hard. My buggy top end for the 3.5 is about 30 and it's really no fun launching or landing.

A number of people have mentioned that I'm not redirecting. I'm not sure if the arm movements are too subtle to pick up, but surely the shadow of the kite is a clear indication of the contrary?

In the pic I posted -- I am in the process of redirecting, and in the clip you can see a second redirection (as I had enough time to do so) in that jump.
