All I've figured out so far is to point the board towards the kite for the first big pop, keep lots of pressure on your rear leg, this will at least stop you from goning through the front door or burrying the nose. once up edge hard by putting weight on your heels and kicking the rear of the board towards the kite.

That's about as far as I've gotten.

Take lessons. Sit down in the water with your board in front of you. Slip your feet in and keep your knees bent. Fly the kite back to 11 or 1 (whichever is away from the direction you want to go). Point your front foot to be 45 degrees down wind from where you want to go (toward the direction the kite is about to go). Turn the kite back from 11 o'clock (if you're going to go to your right) and down about 30 degrees downward from level flight. As the pull begins, keep your weight back. As you accelerate and begin to plane out, slowly transfer your weight from an even stance to more on your heals. This will cause the board to turn more up wind.

You are transitioning from a water skiing type of stance to a side ways type of stance where you ride on the heel side of the board. Good luck.
