Noobtastic FB line question

Hi all - How interchangeable are handle / linesets?

As mentioned a bunch of times in other threads, I want a blurr and haven't yet found a used one.

Wondering now if I'd be able to save some money by buying a new blurr 2.5 kite only and using the handles and lines from my Twister 5.6.

Thanks a lot.

As long as the the handles are long enough to get enough brake input there shouldn't be to much of a problem. The lines should all be the same length except for depower kites they are usually 2 different lengths. I think I may be wrong I only have the 1 depower and I set it up 3 years ago and haven't looked at it sense.

in sort, go for it. Completely interchangeable. Line sets are equal length on the front and back. Different handles will just introduced more or less brake depending on the design and how you tend to hold them. Thats not a bad thing...

Some folks use different lengths for smaller vs larger kites, but it personal preference. Longer lines will give the kite a bigger window to fly thru and make it fly faster. But many ppl just use the same line lengths on all their kites in every condition. Think of it a another knob to fine tune your kite.

To have change your lines every time you fly will seem like a major pain in the butt.

Is it possible to design for strength, if the designer doesn't really understand what strength is?

For the casual flyer, I think changing your lines is overboard. But if you want to then there are way to make it easier. For example, rather than keeping and packing your kite with line you can remove your lines and attach them in order to a small bar to keep them untangled. Really not any more effort than packing it up with your kite.
