Smaller arc to compliment 16m Scrop

Long time no seek PKF!

Anyways...I'm looking for a kite to add to my 16m Scrop one kite quiver. I need to get some more high wind days!

I'm thinking 10-12m, but I'm open to better suggestions from the PL gurus.

I'm a broke college student (most of the reason I haven't been around in YEARS.) so I'm on a tight budget, sub $500 range if possible.

Part of me wants to move to blimps as they are so damn affordable these days. Convince me otherwise please!

Cheers!

12m Synergy has a massive wind range... it's why I'm keeping mine :)

And... welcome back :D

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

I found that I could use my 16 Scorpion easily to the point where I would switch to a 10 scorpion so those 2 worked well for me. It depends on how high you want to ride your 16 before doing a size switch. A kite around a 12/13 is nice size kite to fly - if you go that size you'll have quite a bit more overlap.
I usually go for the broadest gap I can handle that way I'm covered off in the biggest range with 2 kites and then eventually put a kite in the middle to make the progression between sizes less of a jump.
The other thing is your riding conditions, comfort level and safety - do you ride more often needing big kites or do you find many days that you are blown out because you don't have a kite small enough.
I think you are right thinking that 10/12 range but it's a personal preference choice.

Hey Barnes, welcome back! I'm about to unload my arc quiver (except the V13) and go Phantom II. Someone has dibs on all but the 10m Synergy at the moment, and I think that would compliment your 16 very well. Like Mark said, after its time to put away the 16, the 10 will probably take you in to winds beyond what you would be having fun in.

G00fba11, you have my attention...wouldn't be a bad thing to have a complete couple o' scrops!

I'll shoot you a u2u so I can start begging. I'm pretty anxious, thinking about headed to Utah for snow kite masters, would love to feel better prepared before I go! (And kite solider later on next month.)

Hey barnes,
I was wondering if you were on here. We met last saturday when we got blown out by 40 mph winds. I agree with what's already been said. I made do with a 10 m Synergy for quite a while before I traded to the 15 m Synergy. I miss that thing ALMOST every time I go flying, just because it was so fun to throw around. I would also second getting the same kite in a different size. Having to change how you fly when you have to switch can be a bugger. Anyway, shoot me a U2U with your contact information and we can carpool up to the Camas when the wind turns on and I don't have work.

Later

We really need to do a PKF meetup at Kite soldier this year.

Woodland..... I agree it would be a great time having a PKF meetup at kite soldier......

I think you may have me mixed up with another Ryan if I am reading your post that we met up last Saturday.....

I just across the border into Wisconsin from the Minneapolis/St. Paul area...... I have clients in the Pocatello and Salt Lake City areas so I get that direction a few times a year....... I am hoping my next Pocatello project comes through around the kite soldier time frame......

It would be awesome to hook up with a bunch of people up there. Several of my clients that are snowboarders want to come out and try snowkitining......

I will U2U my info.....

Woodland's talking about me Ryan, for clarification.

But agreed, PKF meetup for anyone at Kite Solider is in order. Anyone on this forum deserves a drink on me as far as I'm concerned.

...also g00fba11, we may be able to avoid shipping nonsense.
