Pansh kite models


Not to open up a pansh bashing thread, but...

Other than the low prices (potential red flag #1), the thing that pops out to me on the pansh site is the lack of info about flying characteristics (red flag #2).

I know that the ace is lifty and the sprint is a race kite, but can anyone shed light on what the Flux, Blaze, Blaze II, and Legend are like?

Also if anyone isn't familiar with the Airlink, please see below from the site :spin:

I've buggied with a 2m prototype of the Flux and it seems like a pretty decent kite.



Sting 1.7, 2.4 - Flow 2, 3, 4, 5 - Reactor 2.2, 2.8, 3.5, 4.4, 5.5 - Yakuza 2.2, 2.7 - JOJO 9

Legends are very Beamer II like................stable and forgiving..........would make for a nice buggy/ATB engine.......dig the pink too

The Flux is a big step forward for Pansh. New material and better bridle system. The extra quality is reflected in the price.

You get what you pay for in this sport.

I also buggied with a 2m flux. Can't offer a solid opinion though as I was flying in sucker wind...:thumbdown:

I also have a airlink, but it hasn't seen air... :thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown: so many kites, so little time... :embarrased:

I have the 6m Airlink. Flew the crap out of it back in the day. It is a cross between the Sprint and the Ace. Lots of lift like the Ace and the speed and power of the Sprint. Last time I flew the Airlink was in gusty wind of 15 to 25 and the kite picked me up with the bug and spun me around as I passed over a soccer goal post net thing landing on all 3 wheels as the handles were ripped from my hands as the strop broke. As I bagged up the kite I remembered why I had not gotten it out in a few years.

The Legend is a dog as far as a buggy engine. I isnt great for getting out to the edge of the window. You would need to be overpowered to get any thing out of the Legend. Good as a static kite to play with, has some grunt.

The Blaze is a step up from the Legend with more upwind ability for use in the buggy, with a bit more response and speed. Not a bad buggy kite for a newbie, but enough to get in trouble if the gusts show up unexpectedly.

The Blaze II is a good beginner depower kite if it is set up right. never had one that was RTF out of the bag. The kite comes with kite and bag, hope you have a bar and know how to make it work.

The Ace is a lifty killer in the small sizes with it being 2 steps ahead of you as you try to catch up, and just a lifty tank in the larger sizes being slow but still able to teach you respect.

The Sprint is the 1st real kite Pansh came out with, only after it was reworked a half dozen times by Pansh. They somehow got this one right, more of a copy of the Combat in my thoughts. To many similarities to not be a copy. Like all race kites it needs clean air to be at its best, which is more than you are expecting or ready for.

The Flux is a nice blend of the Blaze and the Sprint, more forgiving than the Sprint and more guts than the Blaze. A good intermediate buggy engine.

All of these opinions are from my experience with Pansh as a kite shop who takes them in on trade. And as a Pansh dealer long long long ago, I can't believe I said that. :crazy:

I have a 5m Ace and I agree with everyone else that it is lifty and will overfly you if you don't keep up with it. I just flew mine yesterday here in the desert in winds from 5 to 10mph and I got yanked around a little bit especially in the tight turns but overall was a good time compared to 2 weeks ago when I took it out last. I would like try other pansh models and sizes but it takes money. Also looking at a 3m peter lynn as well.

I wish I had known this before my first attempt to fly a race kite. It was a Combat 3.5 (I think 3.5) in winds 15+ (prob gusting to 18-20) mph with only a couple of months flying prior. During JIBE 2010 in front of EVERYONE at buggy camp. I recall a scenario that went something like this:

Hmmm, it's only a 3.5m kite, I fly a 10m Apex and a TwisterII 5.6 in this wind. This will be cake! Launched directly downwind, kite nearly lifted me, got it to the zenith and thought "oh crap what am I doing?!?!?!?!"

Next thing you know, I almost took out the tent at camp, the kite, and people under the tent. Needless to say I packed it away with my tail between my legs.

Moral of the story, never underestimate ANY kite especially race kites.

I had no problem getting the Legend to the front of the window and went up wind nicely on a landboard......................def not a dog and a solid kite for the price IMO.................
