OT - Wanna build a boat me thinks.....
I caught a glimpse of a tiny retro motor boat on TV tonight only to find that it was actually a kid's ride-on arcade type thing. I thought it was like
a Shriners' sized boat (are the Shriners in the US as well?)
Well....I think I wanna build one anyway - just for #@%$#!s and giggles. Am I crazy?
Found this one but I'm thinking even a bit smaller......

Any advice or words of wisdom (or caution)?

But a traditional type of boat like a V-Hull....not one like these little hydroplanes (I don't see the hydroplane).

Just a single seater. I'll see if I can find the pic from the show (American Restoration).

One of the classic designs looks like this (200 hr build time).
Off the shelf the Mercury Water Mouse is tiny, but kinda hauls for it's size.

Liking this guy. Could be a fun play space in the yard for the kids too.
Tubby Tug
But I could probably get on with this just the same - just doesn't have the same character. I don't think this picture does it justice.

I had a ride in a tiny wee speedboat like that once years ago - mad fun! Boats though, man... I've never heard a boat owner do anything but moan about
how much of a money pit they are
Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

2 happiest days of my life so far (aside from kiting lol)
1. The day I bought my boat.
2. The day I SOLD my boat!
Loved having it but man, what a money pit! Granted I bought it used and it needed a little work.

I kinda struck the OCD gene in me with this little baby last night. Stared out at the backyard today looking for the place the wife might let me store
it so it can be used as a kid's plaything both on and off the water and I can see it....just don't know if I'll be able to sell the plan
Of course this is both for me and the kids AND for the low/no wind days at the lake.......

hehehehe......I DEFINITELY thought of a secondary "go" method for it....can't imagine how dizzy you'd get trying to get back to shore paddling that
thing. hehehe

I made a canoe in college. Its a 1 seat double paddle (Like a Kayak) 11.5' long boat called the Wee Lassie. The subject of a book call "feather weight
boat building."
It was a fun and interesting process. I still have it and use it at least once or twice a year. There are a lot of books out there devoted to
boatbuilding methods and they all are really interesting and pretty cool. I am a big fan of hand made man powered craft.
I can't remember how many hours I put in building this boat, but I know I didn't spend any more in materials than I would have had I gone out and
bought a fiberglass boat.
This is the only pic I have of it on this computer.
I'm going to take a nap now

I've always wanted to build one of these:
http://gaboats.com/ As light as carbon fiber but cheap and easy to build.
