De-power rig for a Cabrinah

Need a de-power rig for a Cabrinah 12m Nitro, Recon ll.
The kite is a 2005.
I'm sure someone out there in radio land will know what all will work with this Cabrinha or other similar de-power rigs.

Ready to buy.

Submitted the question to Cabrinha... will post back when I get a response.

The Recon manual can be found here.

From the Recon manual:
"You must use a RECON equipped control system to take full advantage of all the safety and relaunch features."

I expect this is related to the "patented" tension fitting system used in transfering power to the trailing edge when you pull the safety.

Apparently there were some (weld) issues with the Recon II control bars. http://www.mackiteboarding.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=84...

The Recon I is compatible and for a while Cabrihna was shipping them out with the Recon II kites due to supply shortages.

ATB,
Sam

I had a 12 and 14m 2005 Nitros for a while.. I had the recon2 bar but removed the recon tap out system and
rigged the bar up with a leash to one front line.. The TapOut system on the bar was very difficult to reset.. the
rear line fittings on the kite would jam up with sand and were unreliable.

Not a bad C kite.. It will fly on any 4 line bar with equal length lines. A older bar with limited depower would be best

Good luck

Recon ll Bar

Thanks Sam for the reply. I did get the manuel a while back from the bladder repair man in Florida. The bar configuration looks
complex. (does it need to be?)
I have several parts and de-power items that I thought
I might be able to build the rig myself. I have a enough "Takoon" parts for a complete rig. It's the "Y" connection to the center leader line length and the length of the bar movement for depower I can't find. The manuel says 30m for the steering lines, that's it

PoKiteTrash advised me that it might not be a good idea as well as dangerous to build one and to try to get the right rig.

Your thoughts?

Nitro Bar

Thanks Dave for your words. Since you had/have Nitros let me ask you this... Being that they are High Aspect Ratio Kites, will it preform well as a buggy motor or will it jerk me out and give me some unwanted air time? Also how does it fly in lite wind 4-10mph.
Or should I just use it for a freestyle kite?

It sure looks like a de-power kite is a lot more fun to fly because of all the control you have.

I am sure you "can" use it in a buggy if you want.. I never tried
you would want some clean wind.. as an older C kite it has limited depower..
All in all not the best type of kite for the buggy.

It's not a light wind kite in the at all.. It will need at least 10mph to keep
it in the air and flying right.. 15 would be better.

Unwanted air time? yeah if you mess up it can launch you.. But that's
what it was designed to do. Fast and Lifty

not really a "depower " just a c-kite. narrow wind range 12-18mph

i have a vid of 12m 2005 c kite in about 10mph , a NAISH boxer, it would be the retail rival of Cab at the time.
very little throw in the bar all ON or idle at the edge not much in between.... learned a ton on it. unhooked is as good as they get.
