SOLD: Mac Bego

Cleaning house... I get to kite about once a year these days, if I am lucky, and this kit deserves to be used. Keeping my low aspect ratio Ozone Kites as those are easy to use for someone way out of practice, but have decided to part with my Begos that take a bit more technique to fly safely and well.

Thing looks new! Someone is going to score a sweet deal here!

Goof, pull the trigger bro! This is one kite you don't want to slip away. On smooth wind days I fly my 600 and all I can say is WOW! Gets you rolling pretty fast in some pretty light wind. Turns easily with not too much input, and when u want to turn fast, it does turn on a wingtip. Easily one of the best kites I have owned!

great pic.................nice lightweight ripstop..................you can see the cell walls thru the skin. Take a look at the intakes. They are full open via being reinforced with stiffners to allow for early on and smooth air flow into the cells..................cross vent ports are well done......paraglider quality incorporated throughout...........hard to beat. I needed a four meter kite to round out my FB buggy quiv (boughthis 400) or I would have snagged this one.................dont let this package slip away:lol::lol::duh:

I think this http://www.racekites.com/2007/09/2034/ is a great review. Its of a 400 but they fly the same - just in different winds. Begos are unusual kites, but IMO they were ahead of their time and still very viable.

It's been flown a bit more than that. :)
Happy to hear it made to you safely.

I take care of equipment as best I can... and I will say, the 400 saw more use than the 600.

Just curious,... the "600", is that 600 cm,... does that mean it is equivalent to a 6m kite?

In other words what size is this?

correct mi amigo....................great low wind 6m sail.................you have the skillz to handle this kite. Lift is there if and when you need it or you can dial it out if you want to stay grounded.....................Mac Para quality is right there with the big boyz (FS, Peter Lynn, Ozone, Flexi)........

Yep, as Tridude said... 6m.

To get the best performance out of the bego they need to be flown with a bit of break applied which is the learning curve with the kite. My 600 is power ringed, which helps with this too.

A good trick when first learning this kite is to fly with the handles held horizontally like they are a bar so the bottom end of the handles extend out to either side which keeps a light constant tension on the brake lines

I bet for its size, this kite pulls like a truck ... the projected area of the Mac Bego 600 is very very close to that of a 6.8m ViperS

Begos are very flat kites which means they project almost their entire sail to the wind. When they are staked out on the ground this will become very apparent.

You will be hard pressed to find any 6 or 4 meter kite that pulls harder than a 600 or 400. When they were more available, they were known to be the hardest pulling kites of their size.

As an owner of both a 600 and 400, I totally agree with that statement.

I sold my 7mm JOJO ET Instinct and my 8.5 Blade III after buying my 600. The 600 had better upwind ability and was faster then both and had a better low end then the 8.5 because it was lighter and faster.

They aren't that tough to fly. If you can fly foils and can't figure these out in 5 minutes then you are doing something wrong. I gave my 600 to a blade IV buggy rider and he took it for a spin with no issues, no learning curve, no crashes and no backstalls. He commented that it was one of the best kites he ever flew on a first attempt.
