Scorpion 16m jumping in the park
Got out of work today to find 60 degrees , sunny with winds 10-15mph and 2 1/2hours of daylight to play with. Dropped the little guy at gymnastics and
headed to the park.
With the leaf blower setup time is pretty quick ,I just hope I get better at launching because ARCs are certainly not the flop and fly that my Apex's
are. I finally launched using the taco method and in short order I was hearing elevator music, smooth up and smooth float on the way down , nice! All
was good untill I hear the trees behind me start to howl and I feel the need to do the moon walk. As I'm doing my floaty walk I"m reaching for the
depower strap which I just barely know how to work and up in front of me here comes mom and a little guy. So not what I wanted to see when I'm trying
to figure out if I've got the kite or the kites got me. Got my feet back on the ground solid enough to bring the kite over to the edge and motion for
the mom to circle arround behind me which thankfully her and the little guy do. With those two behind me and the wind beastly but smooth I bring the
kite up slow and just as I pull the bar in, smooth as can be up I go. I could hear the kid laughing like it was the funniest thing he'd ever seen. 3
nice rides up like that and I called it quits. Wind observations at the airport indicated 15-18mph winds , at 160lbs I found the limits of what I can
do with this kite. 3 days ago I was a 2hour drive away in winter ice and snow on my sled struggling to keep the same kite up in 5-15 mph ,which is not
doable.

Wahooooooooooo! One of my favorite jumping kites. That thing is perfect in 18mph, a good sweet spot. It can be mean, but when conditions are right it
is your best friend. The scorpion behavex like a pmsing woman

Scott we've been flying them pretty regularly , getting a feel for when and how to fly them. FYI I pack the 10m and 13m in a snowboard bag ,spars in,
perfect fit , take up so much less space. Do you still need a nice bag or two or three?

All 4 of my Arcs live in the bag for the largest--the 16m Scorp. It's a nice way to carry them around.
