God Bless Peter Lynn - Twister and Scorpion
Most of you already know the quality of this brand but, for me today was one of those days that I had the confirmation that I made a sure bet of
investing in this kites/brand.
After seeing the wind predictions for today at my local spot, I was a bit disappointed because of only 5kmh N on a N to S beach although the sand as
been flatten from the latest tides and the low tide was in an hour.
Well, been some time since I took the Twister IIR 5.6m out so decided to fly FB and see if it would pull me on the ATB.
When I arrived to the spot, "what the hell?!?" the flags on the Fort near the beach where fully stretched meaning that where, at least 12-15kmh.
Huge smile on the face and there I went and less then 10 minutes after I was flying the Twister.
I've had almost forgotten what a truck this kite is. HUGE lift and a side pull too hard on my arms but I managed to go up and down the beach to the
excitment and amazement of most people that where there.
I managed to take the beating for a couple of hours but the wind kept on rising to the point that keeping the kite at zenith was a pain so I packed
up, went home for lunch and grabbed the Scorpion 16m and "time for round 2".
By then, the low tide was gone but the wind shifted to WNW which is almost direct on-shore (the best in this spot), allowing to run the beach up and
down between the water and the dry/loose sand.
With the Scorpion, the ride became a ultrasonic flight. Never before I felt so much controlable power in it, mainly due to the wind beeing really
clean and steady. It was definitely a park-and-ride session but with short runs.
But that's when it happened. There where so many people roaming the beach that I fled to a spot that was empty and managed to park the kite for some
time and tried to jump as I've seen AD72 doing in a video with the Venom: park, ride, power, redirect, pull in and, UP UP UP UP UP (sh*t does this
ever end) and UP some more. I grabbed and pulled the bar so hard that my fingers almost glued to it. Redirect again and finally I landed on the
soft/dry sand but so powered that I kept on going as if I had Big Foots on the ATB. Kept on going till I stuck the wheels on a whole and went superman
thing, rolling and dragged for some meters. Just let go of the bar and the beast was tammed at zenith looking at a stupid old fart laying flat on the
ground, full of sand, laughing and smilling like a small kid.
After that one it was time to pack and let the beach to the water people as I already was fully satisfied.
Can't tell about others but these kites are SO great when in the right conditions that I had to share it with you.
P.S.: This is a Beachcam of the spot I ride in, enjoy
Remember that I'm in Portugal, if you want to see it,
Regards
Joćo

Loved the story Soma. I knew you were going to say the kite was hovering at zenith like a dog waiting on you to throw the ball again. :bigok:

Hey Soma!
I Guarantee you can expect a call from me some day! I went to Portugal about two years ago with my wife. We couldn't get to guincho, so we took the
ferry and bused to Costa da Caprica. We fell in love with Portugal and we were just talking this weekend of trying to get back there soon. :wee:

@flyjump
Know I understand why you ride 19m charger in 20+ winds, :D
@BeamerBob
Hahahahha, yeah but the owner was so beat up that could only think that it was done for the day, :D
@Flyfish
That's great. Send me a U2U some time before and I'll schedule some days off work to show you the village of Cascais and Sintra and of course,
Guincho. :bigok:

Uma clotilde hahahahahhahahah, haven't seen one of those in quite some time,
Oh, and instead of a bica (expresso) I think you'll be better with a mini (small 20cl bottle beer), I'll buy the first 24 pack, :saint:
One other thing, just to remember the quality of the Scorpion 16m (and tease you a little and convince you to come to Portugal ASAP, :D ), a friend of
mine took this beautiful picture on a great end of day session:
