2m (or less) 3 line trainer wanted

need a three line (i can't figure out how to re-launch a two line spar-less foil and i doubt my 5 yr old will soon)
trainer for my little fella.
he is only 45 lbs-ish so it's gotta be small.
RTF. i suppose it could be 4 line but it's gotta be on a bar.
old is fine as long as it's in good shape.
thanks
Paul

I started out one of my grandsons with a 1.5 Nippair by PKD. He loved the fact it was in camo. It's one of his favorite kites now, mine to.

Appex buggy, Libre hardcore buggies.
Flexboardz. Blokarts.
PKD Century Soulflys. NPW's. Nasa Stars.
A few other less flown oddballs,
Line sets from 10" to 328" or 2m to 100m.
worlds only AQR that works.
North American distributor for PKD.

i remembered the nippair.
i went to the some of the major brand's sites to see what's what nowadays trainer-wise. it seems PKD just has the Buster SF (which is a cool kite).
BTW- they mentioned a "Soul FLy" bar, is it released yet?
these little sucker's are pricey...but i understand you get what you pay for.
i thought i'd put a feeler out for a good/clean used kite (less expensive) before going new.
thnx
Paul

Not sure if they ever updated the website....

I think this might be the "Soulfly" bar: Donnie or Jeff might be able to confirm.

Corey has a Sensei Trainer 2M Trainer on clearance for $101.50 which I believe gets away with being relaunchable on two lines through some bridling voodoo on Jeff Howard's part.
_

Another option that might work is the Ozone Imp Trainer, this year the 3-Line version is called the Ignition.

Because the height (leading to trailing edge distance) is less than a meter the Flat Span vs Area relation ship is inverse of the norm until you get to the 2.5M.

SPAN METRESē Price
1.6m 1.0mē $185
2.0m 1.5mē $200
2.5m 2.5mē $220

Granted that's more than the Buster Soulfly 1.5M's $139.52 price tag, but less or right at the same price point than if you try to get a bar with the Soulfly.

Sadly, Airin's 1.7 Sting quad on handles recently sold for $100 which would have been a good match for you even if you added the bar separately.

Sam

thnx iwolf.
i was Ozone's site yesterday and saw Imps/Flows but not the Ignition (odd) i'm going back to look again.
i seen Airin's Sting but i already have some Busters and small NPWs which are quads and will be great for later. need a bar set-up for now. i'll give it another day if nothing pops up then i think i'll go with an new Ozone 3 liner as (i think) there is a close (second closest) local dealer. the smallest HQ Rush (4) is too big but of course there is HQ dealer (vince) right in town.
my brother has a large regular (? i think flexi) bar (came with 8m Ace) and a new HQ crossover bar for his 5m Scout.
it takes the entire window to get the 8m Ace turned around on the reg bar. on handles it will turn on it's wing tip (if you got the muscles).
the crossover bar does improve turning.
i seen Corey's senseii. i'm going to look at the video to see what's what about launching a two liner foil.
i can re-launch the Flexi 2 line foils but they ahave that LE spar.
Paul
edit...watched the senseii video and relaunching it seems akin to re-laucnhing 2 line deltas. just more about the timing and subtle coaxing i'm guessing??!! i wonder really how different the bridles are to othe 2 liners.

I can only assume that this is Ozone's attempt to gaslight their customers.

In the 2011 -> 2012 transition
Ozone Imp -> Ozone Imp = 2 lines
Ozone Imp Trainer -> Ozone Ignition = 3 Lines
Ozone Imp Quattro -> Ozone Quattro = 4 lines

Only the 2 liner carries forward the familiar Imp logo:

I love a lot of the Ozone products, but sometimes the marketing department gets to fix stuff that wasn't broken (i.e. the whole "Turbo Bar"/Depower debacle).

I have been looking for the bridle layout for the Sensei since it first came out.... partially because I like platypus and partially because I like knowing how things work.... alas no luck. I don't expect that Jeff is hawking snake oil, so I expect he did something clever. Some of the design touches he put into the Indoor Wren still impresses.

Honestly, though I when they are on a bar and in the middle or upper portion of their wind range most smaller foils are fairly easy to relaunch. They are small enough that a sharp tug will pull most or all of the canopy off the ground. Once they are off the ground, finessing them back into flight position is much easier, especially as the wind provides enough resistance to reorient the kite.

Sam

The Soulfly bar has been out for about a year now. It is a crossover type bar designed for the Buster Soulfly, but will work for anyother kite with a bit of adjusting.
Found a few Nippairs in Europe on Ebay for about 90.00 USD. Might be worth checking out.

Thanks iwolf. the Ignitions are there now for sure... on the front page ad and in the kite section(s).
that fella sure does not seem to be having much/any difficulty relaunching the sensei. neat.

Jeff incoming U2U.

- I got a 1.6 Ignition from the local Ozone distributor- he just got them in today and he had a 1.6m (that's a 1m2 right?). interestingly enough it's the very place I got my first 'real' foil (as opposed to Flexi's Super 10) and now it's the place my son get's his first foil. how the world turns... wonderful.
i could only laugh outside (about to cry inside:megan:) when he answered my "how much" question....holy carp fish....this is a toy for little kids (and trainer yes but look at the ads...mostly kids).
(Yes I'm familiar with Ozone's reputation for build quality..yadayadayada...ya get whatcha pay fer.... my brother and I have quite a few of Ozone kites...)

Thanks,
Paul
