Harness Riding Up

Hello fellow windstalkers!
Quick question. I have a Naish waist harness. It tends to find, its way riding up around my chest. So then I work it back down,to where its comfortable again but soon its back up at my chest. How can I either prevent this or reduce the amount this happens? Do some harnesses stay put better than others? The tightening method of this harness is simply pull tight and velcro. Thanks!

I think the best you could do in that situation is tighten it up as much as possible. My understanding is that yes some are better fitting than others, but if you have a stick frame then you will usually have a tough time in this department. A seat harness might help with that though. I normally suck my gut in when I do up the harness to get it nice and tight. Once done I let it out for extra traction to hold it down. :shocked2:

Solution I've heard that may or may not be helpful...
Keep your kite lower.
Get a bigger harness - more surface area to grip yer body...
Get a seat harness :D

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

Thanks for the suggestions!
On another note, I have an unhappy kite story to tell. Ill save it though for when I'm not still so ticked off. I will say that some people def need to be on a leash!
I hate to end on an unhappy note so I will say that I had an amzing kiting session today! Great air, landed a few 360's and kept going, fantastic beach for landboarding. Pure kite heaven....although a cold 38 degree heaven. :)

While you are learning... doing a lot of water starts... the kite is most of the time high in the sky, right above you...so the harness is pulled up to your armpits (I'm in this category). Once you know how to ride, in order to go upwind you're leaning back, the kite is lower in the window and the pull from the kite is actually keeping the harness down, on your waist. One nice harness that can work in both situations is Ocean Rodeo - Session 1 or 2... it is a waist harness, but it has also a couple of detachable leg straps that are preventing the harness from moving up.

+1 for a seat harness. Although i've heard that if you are in the water, just simply getting your harness submerged in the water helps it stick to you better. but if you are like me and mainly on land that doesn't help. I had three different waist harnesses until i switched to the seat. it sucks when you are trying to fly and your harness is in your armpits.

Your waist harness should be so tight it feels constricting at 1st.
As others mentioned keeping the kite low helps but that fits more with water. Moving the harness back down is also easier with the kite low.
When I transitioned, I bought the Mystic seat / waist combo. I ride on land and found I like it in seat mode much more. Great harness ! Very light strong seat so sitting in the buggy ( and getting dragged on my butt) is not an issue

Not every harness fits everybody well. You may want to try a seat harness ?

hanging around idle on land, or just weak fit.

started on a seat style mostly for padding on land based stuff then went to multiple different waist harness, went big went small, eventually have gravitated back to seat style, get the convertible waist(has a seat option) then you can see for yourself.

although a larger waist seems better. the seat style actually should be as small as possible. the smaller seats are my preference ...currently looking to go to nitro seat shorts

Riding on Water and Land are a bit different. And your harness may fit differently for each activity. For me, in the buggy, I use the Ozone Access seat harness. The leg straps help keep it down while buggying. I also use this harness while snowkiting. I dont landboard, so I really dont have a comparison.

On the water, I use a waist harness. Funny story, I cinch mine tight while on land, but once I get wet, the harness loosens up. And I like it that way. Sure, it rides up when I throw jumps, or stand around with the kite high a lot. But that is okay, as soon as I get moving again, the harness slides back down to where I want it. Not a big deal. And much more comfortable.
;)
