titanium axle bolts

i was thinking about using titanium axle bolts on my buggy that has 12mm axle so that i don't have to worry about breaking or bending an axle if i ever decide to get into freestyle
has anyone tried this?

check in with the flexi freestyle riders. They are on 12mm bolts and they go big on air's. Ask what they are using and do what they do and you should be fine. if you can go bigger than them .. I want you on my team lol

Titanium is nice but expesive. Titanium reacts with air at 1200c (2190f), and it reacts by catching fire. It will also burn in a pure Nitrogen atmosphere as well. When you form and machine the crap, such as putting it into a liquid form or cutting threads, it needs to be done in an atmosphere that is inert like argon. While Titanium has great properties such as the highest strength to weight ratio of ANY metal and is very corrosion resistant. 55% of the various steel alloys are stronger and most are cheaper. Now that I'm done nerding out, Beamer has the best suggestion.....talk to people that are into that kind of buggying, they will steer you in the right direction. and thank you for allowing me to be a nerd!!!:singing:

Very interesting Slasher - now I gotta go do some more research on that stuff. ;) lol

For the cost of one Titanium bolt, you could probably buy 100 grade 9 or 10 steel bolts that would be very difficult to break.
