Which board for a Newbie on water
Ok, so here's the deal: by mid Spring, start of Summer, the Guincho Beach becames a parade for people, dogs and fisherman's alike throughout the sand
so it will be really difficult, if not impossible for me to Landboard so I'm beginning to aquire water material.
Just bought a wetsuit and, since I've already have ARCs that cover the wind ranges that roam here, all I'm missing is a board to go water. (LEIs for
now is out of the question since there's no DINERO for that)
Of course I'll be only in the shallow water's till I have my confidence built and to prevent any problems if the ARC fall down.
I'm going to start some body-dragging to get the hang of things and to get used to self-rescue.
So, the thing is: what's a good beginner board for a slim guy of 65 kgs with 1m74cm (sorry for the European measures)?
I've heard of so many types of boards that I'm completely lost when it comes to it.
Regards and thank you for all the input

Hey Soma,
Because I know where you ride, I would suggest getting a board around 132 - 134 cm long, by 39-40 cm wide. Many people would suggest first buying a
larger board (like 140 cm by 43 cm) and then getting a smaller one later. Then they would use the bigger one for light wind. But Guincho blows! You
probably won't need a light wind board later.
These are just my thoughts.

Well, most of the guys who are selling 2nd hand, are those measures so, probably due to what you stated.
Have these ones available:
Wipika Mauricio Pro 138x40
Blade Deuce 2012 131x41
Fanatic 138x37
They're selling for: €230 (~$300) the 1st; €275 (~$370) the 2nd and €280 (~$375) the 3rd.
Do you know any of this boards?
Thank you for your input
Regards
João Oliveira
P.S.: They're all Twintips but I think they're the right ones to begin with, isn't it?

Getting the balance with board starts is easier with a wider board. I would not go for anything narrower than 42cm. My first board that got me going
was a Sessions 41 which was 141x43. I really like my Mako King and use it in all conditions. Strong recommendation for that one for super easy water
starts and even balance. I would recommend a tube kite for starting as well. From what I have read about relaunching the Scorpion, that would be the
last kite I would recommend someone starting on the water.

Sorry I should have read your weight and height. You could go for something smaller. I also have a Xenon LaLuz 135 x 42 that would be a perfect
starter board at your weight. Of the three above the Blade would probably be the best.

I think the blade would be a great board.
I agree with AD72. Wider generally better to start. But being light weight I think you could get away with this width.
