cape cod
Thinking of heading to the cape mid may with the wife and would like some advice as to good places to buggy, rules, etc. I seem to remember a huge
beach I think in Wellfleet from my college days. Seems like you should be able to find a beach for almost any wind direction down there.
Thanks for any help:wee:

I have a cottage in Eastham and there is not many good beaches on the outer cape to ride on land. The sand on the ocean side is very soft and the
wind is obstruced by dunes which also make the beaches narrow.
The sand on the bay side is often wet and soft. You can ride at Skaket beach in Orleans as it has sand that packs down tight like nahant just watch
out for the big rock.
The other beaches are hit or miss depending upon how the sand bars set up at low tide and if you like getting wet or not.
Awesome for kite surfing but not so good for land sports on the outer cape.
When are you going? Maybe I'll be down there.

Check out Mayflower/Chapin beach in Dennis- its where I buggy and its a kiteboarding hot spot. As B-roc [yeah, B-roc I'm still here!] said the sand
can be be difficult at times. I find the "ribbing" of the sand can give a real chattery ride- you have to play with the air pressure to get it right.
The beach is HUGE and more than enough space for everyone. Rules? Piper Plovers can be found nesting and it will cause beach closures. Never heard
them nesting at mayflower though

Thanks guys! We will see if we go to the cape or someplace else. Wife wants to get away, I want to kite, we will have to see what kind of compromise
we can reach. Any suggestions other than nahant as I don't think that would go over big.

Come down to the Cape! If you have never been here both will enjoy it and will get the best of both worlds. Hit the beach and shops during the day and
after 5pm when the beaches clear out you can start kiting, plus you don't have to pay $20 for parking!:shocked2:
Let B-Roc and I know if you are coming- would like to meet and fly together!
B-Roc: Sold some but still have a quiver! Took a break for 9 months or so but find myself looking at trees and flags again! Have been flying about
twice a week now for a month and enjoying it again. Looking to learn Kiteboarding to try to mix it up and keep the spark hot. I WILL MAKE IT TO NAHANT
THIS SUMMER!!!
Sorry for the hijack Mainekite, if you need any info on Cape Cod feel free to ask.

What is Martha's Vineyard like for wind in mid June? Should I just bring the SA2 19M expecting low summertime wind for kitesurfing?

That sounds great to me!!
AD72- we really do not see a major change in winds here in the summer. Right now is the gusty wind season and it will smooth out in 3 weeks or so.
Look at my kites- the largest I have is a 5m [non-depower] since the winds are good here. From the southwest is the norm.

Li'l overhead kite and surf (no longer open) used to give lessons at the next beach over from me. I talked to him a number of times but never signed
up. I'd imagine any of the shops in Dennis are good to deal with. There is great riding at the beach by my cottage on the bay side as the water is
only ankle to knee deep for about a mile out. I just never have time and when I vaca its all about the kids so the kites stay home.

Air support is well known down here- I talked with funseekers.org about lessons, they have been around 20 years so that says something.
