Yet another beginner recommendation needed
Hey..I'm 200 lbs, live in Chicago - so our wind is often 5 - 10... I've windsurfed for a few years, I'd like to try a 4 line power kite so I can have
some fun on the land, and maybe eventually try kiteboarding / kite-snow-boarding.... After reading a few of the other beginner recommendations, the
Beamer TSR 3.6 sounds like it would be a fun kite. Any thoughts on that? My only previous kite experience is a low end Prism dual line stunt kite.
Any other Chicago folks have any tips on places to fly, kite stores, or used equip? thx!

I live by Armitage/Western... lately I've been going up Horner park (between irving/montrose & next to the river) to fly the prism kite. They
have a nice hill there, you can get some good wind and usually there arne't too many people there, closer to me than the montrose/wilson beach park -
which has an even better hill. Where do you guys fly?

Hey Rob, the Beamer, both the TSR and II are great kites. Both will fly well on handles and a bar. The Beamer II comes with handles, and the TSR
comes with a bar. I would buy which ever you want accordingly that way you dont have to purchase a control system separately later. You will not be
disappointed as a first kite.

Thanks for the tip Scoopy... I ended up ordering a Beamer II from cobrakites.com they were excellent to work with, very friendly and they have spent
over an hour on the phone with me, giving me various tips and whatnot.

illinois beach state park is the best place I have found so far. It is 40miles north of chicago. Big empty beaches with few people and no trees. I
bought a new tech balistic and have had a lot of fun with it. I took it out in 25-30 knots and it picked me up off the ground. I am 180lbs. I
eventually got pissed at the 4 line setup getting tangled all the time so I converted it to a 2 line kite.
