private land/ farms that allow people to atb or buggy on their land in VA

Are there any farms in virginia where the owners of the land let people power kite there?
or maryland or west virginia?

I am tired of flying in soccor fields with turbulence

There used to be, but the rights were abused, and flyers were asked not to come back...
As far as I know... there are no privately owned locations in the DC Metro area where kite flyers are allowed to fly.

Yer free to go and ask. I didn't bother.
I either drive to Wildwood, hit The Bowl, or hit the water (when I can).

I live where there are a lot of fields (farm land) and soccer fields too. I have approached many a farmer to ask permission to use their fields. Some say yes right away...some take years to work on.

ADVISE.... Talking on the forum and telling other PKF members about getting air, how fast you can go etc, etc, is NOT a good way to approach someone about using their land. Especially in this sue happy world. They just say NO immediately. You need to ask about flying a kite, using a buggy/skis and make it seem responsible. There are also a lot of farmers that need help and don't have a lot of money...so if you suggest that you and a friend go help with fence maintenance, trails, painting barn or ?....this is a way to show the "old school" guys that you can help them and respect them too. You will get a lot farther. I guarantee that once you get on the good side of a couple of farmers in your area (remember they all know each other) you will open a lot of doors to new play grounds.

GOOD LUCK!

hard to find a field without a crop around this area. Even winter, they plant winter wheat and rye. crop rotation big time! A sod farm would be nice:thumbup: But I know of none locally.

Here too ( winter wheat etc.) I look more for horse pastures as they are more manicured and usually don't have animals on them all the time. As weldngod said too.....get your butt in the car and go to wildwood....it will surely make you SMILE ;)

We have a ton of grass seed farms in Oregon so I just ride on those, with permission of course. I haven't been able to ride on a sod farm, though.
