Anyone looking for Bars or C kites?

I met with a guy today who has tons of old school gear. He has many size C kites for $50 and a bunch of bars. The bars are not really current with safety setups of today but are fine for hooking in/out. He thought the bars were worth $0 but I told him I might have some buyers.

The kites are mostly 2002-2004 C kites. All are in good shape [I bought 2 !!] and all are $50!! Naish, Best etc.

If interested let me know and I will get you in touch with him.

I saw 2 with "Q Line" on them. Not sure of the rest- this guy was pulling stuff out of a storage area hand over fist!! I use Q line myself and love it! He said $40 with line which is a good deal since the line alone is worth that.

Let me get a complete list from him. I am going back tomorrow for a 12m Aero:frog:

Just so all are aware- these are older kites- they are in good shape but have been used and some have minor pinholes [all taped] The bars are mostly depower but the safety setups are outdated and really should not be used for depower. look at them for 4 liners only with good lines.

Unfortunately no- Picture a box full of old bars, lines wrapped on each and some questionable safety releases! The hardware might not be the best but the bar and leaders are good- I am just a "passer alonger" not the owner.

I'm just getting into power kiting and have been using some trainer kites. Would the smaller C shaped kites be a good way to move up inexpensively?

No.. Older C kites have limited depower poor range and have lots of bad habits.. you have enough to worry about when learning

Exactly what flyfish said, old C kites are bad for new people. limited depower, difficult to relaunch.

If you're after a value priced big kite, I do see a 2009 ocean rodeo 10m for sale in the sale section for dirt cheap. Good durabilty, relaunchability and depower on that one.

Tide? What's a tide? Man, it's 1000 miles to any ocean.

Thanks for the feedback. 10m seems like a lot of kite! Also I dont have any handles or bar to use with it.
I appreciate the heads up.

Beachrights, I wasn't going to say anything, But..... you'll be back, probably on your knees begging! LOL!
My second kite I ever had was a Naish Aero. Did the job, but don't really miss those days.
Not trying to hawk my Waroo, but it is a great stable kite that I never really used.
It was just too stable for me. I was learning to kite loop at the time and it would hang just a bit too far back on the window during the loop. I went back to a Caution kite. So it never really got ridden.
But crunchy, it seems like a good deal at 50 bucks, but there's pain associated with the old time kites. Not only will they occasionally take you for a ride that you didnt ask for, but We could only water relaunch them by swimming our asses off straight at them, trying to get them to roll over. It only happened maybe 50% of the time. The rest ended up in a "kitemare" of some sort.

Don't get me wrong, I learned before there was a "chicken loop" on the bar. We only had a static windsurfing loop on the bar. We feared god if it ever went down in the water because it rarely came back out. But we still learned!
But...
It reminds me of a conversation I had when I was around 20 years old. I was super nostalgic about old 1960' surfboards. I was talking to an older guy that grew up with these boards, and I asked him why he didn't ride them anymore. He replied "why would I ride boards that suck?".
I'll tell you, I didn't really get his response then, but I seem to now! LOL!
I write this with respect. I love when people try things and experiment! Just be careful in the process.

I am not going anywhere near water till I fly both on land and drill and redrill my safety's!! I am also adding a 5th line for [hopefully] easier relaunch. I saw a posting on a forum of several who have done this to their C kites with good results. If anything it is another safety to dump power.

I watched a guy yesterday boarding with a C and studied his Techniques- Your right on relaunch! Got to keep that puppy in the sky!!
