I'm making some quiver changes and need to sell my 4.5 and 5.4 vapors. These kites have been used very little and have no damage, or repairs whatsoever. They are the Blue/Orange color which I think rocks with great contrast. The 5.4 was flown last during an almost no wind session at nabx as the sun went down. It is a bit dusty. The 4.5 seems not to have gotten much dust on it the times I've flown it. Tridude recently bought my 3.5 Reactor II and sponged it off when he got it. Angus saw the kite and questioned Tridude if he got that kite from me and where was the dust.

Hey B , what is your most used size out there?

WG, I'm pulling your leg here. I'm making a switch in these medium sizes to HQ Prodigy. I will work towards getting all sizes up to 6.9m. I'm doing this because Wexler is an HQ teamrider and has shown a penchant for speed. We have a 3.4m now so I'll fill in with sizes up to the 6.9m. The Prodigy is a great kite and Wexler keeps finding the speed limits on the Montanas. He had topped out the M6 at about 53 mph and then took the M7 up over 58. With the landsegler wheels on the way, I'm sure he will find the limit on the M7. Terminal velocity was not a design parameter I'm sure but they go fast anyway. The Prodigy is going to be more appropriate to go faster with.

To answer your question, the 2-3.5m kites are the most frequently used here if there is much wind. I flew my 3.5 Reactor II often here. Now its the 3.4 Prodigy or 2.7m Vapor that are most appropriate with winds over 20 mph.

Thanks WG! I'm quite proud of both boys in many ways. I'm not sure Wexler realizes how lucky he is to be so good at something at 17 years old.

Hey BB....don't mean to hijack the thread but I'm curious, I love my Vapors but have been thinking about incorporating some Prodigy's in the mix as well...can you comment on the similarities and differences between the two?

BTW, I will be there in June...your comment to WG, is it because of the heat or lack of wind? I'm assuming it's the former. But if not, maybe I won't bring my gear...

Both kites are similar in that they are high aspect and run forward in the window and stay there even at speed. both are very powerful for their size. Add in 1 to 2 meters size to compare to an intermediate foil (talking in the sizes of less than 6m). They both have the power of larger kites but the speed and lack of sidepull of a smaller kite. Surprisingly, each kite despite its high performance is very stable and predictable. You can't hand a 2.7 Vapor to a beginner and them hit 60 mph in the buggy, but if someone has the kite skills to the point where they don't have to look at the kite much and know what the kite is going to do before it does it, they can enjoy the thrilling power that the Vapor or Prodigy offers.

The differences, IMHO are that the Vapor goes that extra few percent for ultimate speed. The tradeoff is it has a more narrow windrange. This is shown also when you look at the sizes that each kite is manufactured in particularly in the smaller sizes where the vapor can have as little as .5m difference from the next size.

These kites are no longer for sale. They have a place in my quiver for now.
