Ok guys, another newb question. I have assembled a FB quiver I'm pretty happy with but I just wan't to make sure I don't have any gaps in wind range. From a capability standpoint I think I'm where I planned to be for a static flyer, ATB'er, and soon to be buggier.
Two questions really:

First how do the 5M Blurr and 5.5M Reactor II compare as far as buggying is concerned. I have flown my Blurr static some recently and what a blast that was! Is the .5M difference really much of a big deal, or does the Reactor have qualities that would somehow make it a must have anyway?

Second, I've enjoyed my 5.6 Twister on the lower end of its wind range. I'm still not ready to ATB with it yet. Originally when I bought this thing I thought wow, some air would be cool here and there but I'm mid-forties and really just don't need to push that envelope anymore. I guess you all can see where this is going. Keep the Twister and eventually ATB with it, or sell/trade it for for something more buggy/static friendly in 5.5 to 6M range? I do like it so if my current quiver doesn't really have any gaps I suppose I'll stick with what I have but I just don't see the Twister as a buggy engine at all, ever.

Try the Twister in the buggy first, before you dig in your purse again. I have one and use it as a buggy engine, and LOVE it... :cool2:

Can't say much about the Blurr but I know the 5.5 RII is quite a powerhouse. It was night and day when flown side by side with a 5m Radsails Aztec. Like scooter vs Harley night and day. Anyone flown a Blurr side by side with a RII?

I haven't flown the Blurr but I have owned a Twister II 5.6 and currently own a Reactor II 5.5

The Twister can be used as a buggy engine. Some like it, some don't. I personally don't like it as a buggy engine. I didn't care for its upwind nor did I like its lifty tendencies in the buggy. Granted, you can get around the lift by keeping it a bit lower and using a bit of caution in upturns. It's responsive, and stable which is nice but I liked it much better as a static kite. Probably one of my favorite static kites of all time!

The RII 5.5 is an absolute dream as a buggy engine. Ultra thin bridals make for less drag thru the air and it's upwind performance is better than any FB kite I've flown. Ultra responsive, turns well on brakes as well as the usual push/pull with handles. Sits out front in the window nicely so speed is easy. The more tou give it, the more it wants! Very stable so you don't have to be a pro to fly it. A little brake tension makes this bad boy come to life! Works well inland as well as in coastal breezes. I have always loved my Vipers but since I got my RIIs the Vipers only fly when Sheska or my daughter fly. (still love ya Vipers)

Wish I could comment on the Blurr but again, never flown one. Keep in mind, all of what I posted is just my opinion from my personal experience. Others may say different.

ugh, The twister isn't a buggy engine. Up high its pulling you out and if you bring it low, it wants to pull you sideways. Upwind I could never do it. Viper/Reactor, even a Core is a much better buggy engine.

That's cool mogul. I'll need to at least give the Twister a try with a buggy down the road. It is a lot of fun static and I've not been too worried about it's lift as it does respond well to brake input so I keep it under control pretty well to avoid unpleasant surprises. I can't wait to try the 8.3 reactor I just got from RonH. I really enjoy any FB kite that is responsive to braking input, I just feel more secure on the field that way since I do fly static by myself quite a bit with kites that are pretty big and powerful for my size.

I've owned a 7m Blurr and the 5.5 RII. I've spent a few hours on the 5m Blurr. I remember the Blurr being a great kite with awesome upwind, but the RII must be a more advanced design being a newer design. I loved the RIIs for beach and inland riding. If not wanting the ultimate in speed, with some extra stability above a race kite, you can't go wrong with the RII. If you found a great deal on a Blurr you won't be unhappy with it either.

After getting my first buggy, I couldn't sell my lifty kites fast enough. Too much risk.

Yeah, I hear you Bobby, that may in fact be the case- I'll just have to see. Obviously, before I do much more on the kite side I have to get the buggy anyway. I just want to have all the bases covered kitewise so the elements such as low winds or gusts won't pose so many limitations on my learning to buggy.

I do really, really, really, like my Blurr. It's a powerhouse like the original Bullet, but well mannered like the Rage. Just a whole lot more responsive than the Rage. Should be a pretty fast kite for buggying from what I have heard.

My 5m is my most used kite. Have flown the RII but I have to say I love my Blurrs. The Blurr has exceptional upwind capability and its very predictable. I can hot launch and it powers up smoothly and predictably. Will never sell them for any other FB's .
