It looks like this was a group of kiters . Why on earth were those folks riding with them not stopping them ? This amazes me as much as anything ?

One good thing about our crew. If somebody is doing something unsafe most of us are willing to tell them so. Our location is too imortant to allow anything less.

That is just wrong ..... I would personally love to kick his ass for putting those kids in danger ......

Darwin doesn't even have an award for this kind of foolishness. I too was wondering why not one person there wouldn't stop to tell these people to stop. What about the guy taping this??? Probably thought more about his YouTube account than the safety of those people. Not knowing how to fly the kite is one thing and possibly understandable. It even a blind person can see the risks that those children are put in. And that baby too....wow too much to say.

That was just horrifying, All I could imagine was that kite taking off with one of those kids tangled in the lines. And I agree it was up to the other experienced flyers to put a stop to it sooner. And the very worst part was the mom not even checking the baby after the stroller was hit. I looked at it again (like a car accident I had to). And when it starts the guy is untangling the lines from the stroller. And seemingly yelling at the woman to move the baby further out of harms way. Which seems to be about 5-feet back.

wrong thing to say bud! i get more "VIEWS" from my other vids. i did put a stop to the foolishness but i was filming from about 300m away and as you can clearly see there are several kiter in the immediate vicinity. to tell you the truth i was waiting for a blame the cameraman comment. numpty.

So you posted it looking for a confrontation??? I wasn't looking for one but give me a break. I see someone about to fall off a cliff but pull my phone out and video tape it so that I can show an example of what to do. I meant no insult to you but really???

Also I will note that I clicked on the. Video on my phone watched it and didnt look whI posted it to YouTube. But I still think its nuts to video all that and not go to offer your help before hand.

how not to and can you list the things wrong in this video. to me that sounds like someone saying dont do this! and as you are not in charge of the full facts ill fill you in a little. i didnt "just pull out my phone and film this" it is part of about 30mins of footage taken of the other kiters whilst i was having a break. it was taken whilst i was on holiday in a country where i didnt speak the language, but i was the one who went over and put a stop to it and the went on to give them a free 1/2hr lesson on how to set up launch and fly an lei safely. so yea i did get insulted by your comment and your kind of back down.

You never gave no facts on what went on so yeah I assumed that who ever was filming it wanted to get the footage so that they can show it off. If you would have said hey I was there and gave them a hand and offered a lesson so that they would avoid the situation next time then we would have known what the perimeters of the situation were. Just watching the video was saying that there were a lot of kiters around to see them struggle and almost hurt themselves and children. It was displayed to ask the question why the hell isn't someone helping them and why would they act that way. So you can't blame people for asking those questions. But thanks for clearing that up so we know the facts. You want to be insulted by that fine but perceive something and get mad when those who don't know the facts start asking questions. But I guess because you posted it we are suppose to assume that you were right there to set them straight.

Chill out guys! Thats good you went out to save them and their children for this session and hopefully all future endevours. Although most of this none sense could have been avoided if you posted all the explanation in the post with the video =/.

I never commented to start any scene or argument. I didn't want it to come across that way. Carl is one of the many people on this forum that drives me to want to be a better kiter than I am. Lots of knowledge has been given to me through what Carl has posted on this forum. I only posted what I was seeing and thinking. There is a lot to be taught from that incident and knowin the facts will teach lots of new people a valuable lesson what should not be done.

The 1/2 hour lesson was SOOooo the RIGHT THING TO DO ! 1,000 times more valuable than just explaining what they were doing was wrong !

ya, with the embedded video, not obvious who posted it either. I didn't know until I read the comments further down. I know Shaggs was not trying to light a fire with that question...It was a fairly straightforward question to ask what the person taking the video was up to. But, good to get the full story and know that you stopped it shortly after, and went further and gave a lesson! Nice.

ya, that mom was pretty unconcerned, apparently French children are a little more robust.

That video - was my today. Bunch of learners on the beach dive-bombing kites into everything and everyone in sight

All's cool. I havent kited in a long while its either been no wind or 50km gusting to 70km. Really need a 2m kite to get through those days. Lol

My jaw dropped open I could hardly breathe.... that was insanity! I can recall 2 life threatening situations that I intervened in ... was watching 4 yahoos tubing in Tennesee they went past the point in the river where everyone is suppose to exit , 100yard down river is the highest classification of rapids on the river(if it was classified at all), after deciding that I did not want to watch this tragedy unfold I was lucky enough to get their attention and get them off the river, upon seeing what they had nearly gone thru one of them got sick an nearly passed out. Matanzas state forest south of St Augustine known for kayak tours of the swamp , watched what looked like a big gator (I watch Swamp People) swim up to the kayak lauch and sink down right next to it, I called the ranger's # and he said "they're like racoons and come in to feed on stuff left by fishermen" ... Here comes the kayaks ,I tell the lead guy after he unloads grandma that there is a gator almost right next to him , he sais "that's allright ,up to about 5' I dont worry" when I tell him this one is more than half the length of his 16' kayak his whole face changed and he directed the others to offload onto a dock away from the gator.
Per carltb being the camera guy, it's a good policy to never shoot the messenger , he's not the problem.
