I was down at costco a few days ago and saw an interesting vehicle, it's a steel tube 3-wheeler with hand levers to lean steer the rear axle and a fixed driven front wheel. Looks like it's meant for teenage sized kids (i.e. me the guy who wears boys' large shirts)

If I had my phone I would have taken a picture, but I wonder if anyone else has seen it and had any thoughts. Next time I'm there I'll try to snap one.

The rear wheels are about 6" wide and the front is like a small bike tire. Looks like it would ride on turf or sand just fine. It's only $80, looks like it might be a good substrate to chop into a buggy by removing the pedals and making a lever to push with your feet to steer it.

Or ...it might blow up once it gets above the 5mph intended speed.

Really if I did this thing it would be my first buggy just for messing around in the park. Sure would be cheap though

It's the old blue max machine design, my son had one 30 years ago and had a blast on it, but I don't think that rear articulating axel is the hot set-up for buggys. Who knows, might be fun to try it out, just watch out for your speed.

A lot of campgrounds rent them , great fun , goofy steering. I was playing with one doing powerslides and generaly screwing around , got going fast on a little slope and managed a hard right out of control turn into a split-rail fence. Turned it over to the kids at that point saying "now you guys see how dangerous this thing is ... take it easy".
If you think you can steer and fly at the same time buy it and have some fun.

Haha! Looks very much like the "green machine" but a bit bigger and it looked steel instead of plastic. Admittedly I was shopping with the wife and only got a token look as we went by.

I think the trick would be to make a foot bar at the front that actuated those levers via pushrods. then cut the levers themselves off so as not to get hit in the nuts by them!

I am a bit concerned it is meant to be "pulled" by the front wheel, and having power come from further back could cause it to swing around something fierce or dig the front wheel in and flip. That is why I think maybe flip the seat and ride with the 2 wheels forward.

Man! I had one of those when I was a kid- rode the piss out it till the plastic wheels starting getting holes from skidding and doing slides! My second one, the pedal broke off and that was the end of it.

There is no freakin way you can fly and steer this- its back wheel steering. Though I would still get one cause they are a ton of fun! Perfectly balanced.
