Well....I figured it was about time I did a write-up about the great time I had at Spring SOBB 2012
My 7 hour drive was long worth the wait.
I arrived at 2:30am in Seaside and decided to sleep in the Jeep.
I got only maybe 2 hours sleep and decided at about 6 am it was time to head to the beach regardless of the rain.
I hung out at the beach for a while and decided to check into the hotel since it was raining.(day one......no kiting)
Day 2,3 and 4 were fantastic with 3-12 hour days of kiting.
I was the first one at the beach each of those mornings with Sandflea not far behind (typical wind junkies)
Somehow...I mangaed to get some video and pictures in.
A huge thanks goes out to Phil for having buggy camp, and John Ellis for hosting a great time at his barbeque.(I still owe you a game of buggy
bumping)
On the last day of kiting, a local law enforcement on the beach decided to drive upto buggy camp on the beach and
he asked if anyone knew how fast we were traveling.
He apparently clocked Eli at about 49 and Sunsetjim at 42 mph
Someone asked about the speedlimit for us and said there was none.....SWEET!
At that time...things were pretty relaxed so someone asked if he had seen the buggy with the KC22 number plates.
He said he had so SOMEONE....asked as a prank if he could pull me over as a joke.
He agreed and off he went looking for me.
He came accross me just as I was almost in buggy camp.
He put his radar gun out the window.
I thought he was waving at me so I waved back and did'nt look back.
He then quickly made a u-turn and put his lights on to pull me over but it was too late...I was in camp already.
The officer said I was only doing 27 mph.
Its too bad as I would have loved to have had a framed ticked of going to fast in a kite buggy.
I had a great time and look forward to the fall when I can return again.
Cheers all
