BAY ARE BUGGY CLUB.... ANYONE INTERESTED ??
Looking to start a buggy club in the BAY AREA (California)
I have spoke with a guy I buy products from and he said he would discount buggy items and kites at his cost if we throw there name out to everyone we
know, slap store name stickers on our buggys, helmets, and mention them at events....... he will supply the bussiness cards and stickers to pass
out......
theres no cost to join or no fees, nothing to sign just word of mouth, it sounds like a sweet deal......a club ran by the people in the club not some
old guy with a walker who said he buggyed 20 years ago....
just a way to make more friends that buggy and be all together....
if interested email me.....

after re-reading my post from 7-11-2006 , The info is not accurate anymore
(the begining post about the club)
I would still like to put a club together, but no longer need the middle man for equipment....( since I buy and sell equipment on the side now)
It would just be a group of friends in the area who buggy together......
(just like the shoreline group)

Hey, I'm there. I sure could use some tips and hook up with others to buggy with. Nobody out here in the tri-valley seems to even know what a kite

Hey I want to get in on this too...I am new to this sport and am completely addicted....yet again nobody in Sac knows a thing about this...I drive a
home built buggy and have a few small kites...There is really only two places to fly in Sac/Davis and they are very short runs......

Okay, so now that we have a few people interested in getting together and buggying, when and where works? We have folks from the south bay to
Sacramento. There area a few places to buggy in the Livermore/Dublin area that I like. Here are the closest cross streets:
Nice park at the corner of Altamont Creek and Garaventa Ranch Rd. Livermore
There's also another just across Vasco at Christensen School. I've buggied at the Garaventa Ranch field, it's best in a north or south wind, but a
little short in width for a West wind. I haven't had a chance to try the Christensen field yet, but the grass seems fine.
The other field I like is in Dublin at the northwest corner of Tassajara Rd and Central Pkwy. Google shows the area as brown grass with a gravel patch
in the middle, just east of the creek. It now lush green grass, occasionally too long. I'd love to know their cutting schedule! Trees are minimal and
small, and the west wind really works well here. Today would have been a great afternoon there. Having just gotten a glimpse of the dry lakebeds last
weekend, I'd love to find a nice big parking lot! Know of one? Let's get together people!

Uuh, I have to adjust what I said above. I went to the Dublin field Saturday and it was obvious it had been cut the day before. Cool! The wind was
brisk, and I was looking forward to getting some quality time in the seat. There was so much rolling resistance it was really difficult to get moving.
I was flying a Blade 6.6, and there were some gusts. Whenever I hit the imitation grass section in the middle (not sure what these are for, it's like
a section of outdoor carpeting over cement) I would just scream, only to get bogged down shortly thereafter in the thick grass. I ride a flexi with
wide tires and short axle, no harness. I should be getting my wide axle this week. I can get moving pretty quick downwind, then when I try much in the
way of a reach, I slow, jam along on two wheels for awhile, then one out of five passes, flip. I'm pretty sure I'm not turning too far upwind, in
fact, I found myself heading gradually downwind. On other, shorter fields or dirt, I have no problem. Overpowered? Grass too high? When the wind
picked up, I took out a 3.5 Profoil and had similar results.

Usually I ride at Ocean Beach (right off the great highway in sf) if the tides are low and the wind is blowing above 7mph and any direction except
east you will have the time of your life..... usually theres a few people on the beach in buggys, landboards, kite surfers, you will almost always see
zloty or alton out there just watch out for the people....bring your big kites 5-10 meters usually does it...... also there is another great spot in
mountain view at the shorline ampitheatre (spelling?) in the overflow parking lot, its a designated kite field and buggys are more than welcome, but
here you will need small kites, 2-5 meters is more than enough winds are great in the afternoons, but i can get gusty at times, i dont think i have
ever flown bigger than 3.5 meters there... and you can haull asssss (dirt/grass/gravel lot) we should try and put something together on a weekend and
have some fun wind has been real good lately, lets put it to use...........

Hey Don... good to see you back! I thought you'd dropped off the face of the earth!
And Eric... I lost your phone number and you didn't leave it on your message.
Thinking about a Shoreline parking lot session this Friday afternoon... anybody up for it? And does anyone know how I can get in touch with Vince?
Hope to see some of you people on Friday!

Thanks for the info, Don. I just recieved my wide axle, earlier than expected! I know about Ocean Beach, but never buggied there. It's just so darn
far for me. I'll check them both out. What days are best for you? Weekends work best for me, but I may be able to get away occasionally during the
week.

Just a headsup to those who are thinking of going to Shoreline...I was there yesterday and if you haven't been there lately, the dirt/gravel area, has
been dug up from the gate to the southern end. Not sure if this was done to discourage buggiers & land boarders from using it, or being prepped
for concrete paving, that means you can only buggy or land board on the grass area which, by the way, is knee high and starting to dry. Never the less
I think I can make it this friday.
I also heard of Ozone doing a demo at Shoreline sometime in April. Can, anyone confirm this?

Hi Bob,
Sorry about not leaving my #. Too jacked up thinking about buggying to finish the message, I suppose. 925-784-8539
I did get a good session in yesterday at my local field. My new axle came and I got in a good hour and a half. I screwed up and got my lines stuck.
(Twice) On the bright side, I found I can still climb a basketball pole. Very gusty, but challenging. I also slammed into one of those poles with that
brand new axle and got ejected over the front. Even though I kept having problems when I ventured over to the b-ball area, I just couldn't help
myself. It was such fun!

Not to bad mouth Ozone in anyway (because there kites are excellent) but the day I see an ozone demo anywhere I will be shocked... last year they
promised to be at the berkely kite fest, hence the only reason I went, they had like 2 guys there that said they were sponsored by ozone? but no Ozone
demo equipment, So I would highly doubt a demo at shorline, As for shoreline the news is that O'Grady paving is doing the demo work on the dirt and
gravel road down the center of the field, they have been working down at the far end for quite a while basically doing nothing....there has been some
talk about shorline re-graveling that section due to the bad compaction and potholes, cars often get stuck so im not sure what the scoop is on it, I
actually have a friend who works with that company, I will try to call him and get the 411 on the job..... I will keep you posted, as for the high
grass we will have to try and get a hold of popey the welder and get one of those push mower hookups for the buggy and just mow it ourselves :singing:
if you plan to go to shoreline make sure you check the ticketmaster website by venue (shorline) to see if there is a concert, many times I have
showed up to find that the lot is full of cars I have confirmed with the shorline
security that it is a designated kite field and buggying is 100% okay as long as you give the right of way to people..... they even put up a sign that
says designated kite field......... the beach is still #1 in my book but shoreline is a great alternative...

okay I got the scoop on the shoreline construction..., O'grady paving is just diging up the ground to run some new large storm pipes through and then
the road will be re graveled, the process "SHOULD" (this is alwyas the key word in construction) be completed by the end of the month........

Hi everyone!
The shoreline buggy group page/forum isnt so much out of date, just keeping some historical info from a few past buggiers. I've been delinquent in
updating it though, so if you buggy at shoreline and I dont have your info, please log in and post it so I can put it on the main page. I'll start
checking it every few days now that our buggy season is approaching. I'm really excited to get back out there and have been watching the winds daily.
I cant wait to get back into the buggy!

don321 - last time I went to Berkerley kite fest (3 yrs back?) there was a bunch of Ozone guys there with buggies and kites - not too much room for
them to buggy where their tent was set up, but they let me have a go on something (can't remember what it was, a Frnezy?) with a mountainboard for a
while. They were more than willing to let you try stuff out and hand out brochures and stickers etc.
Buggying over at the dog park at the back was good fun though... can't beat some offroad buggying up and down those hills :-)

Hey all you bay area buggiers! I just had a great session at a new site in Livermore, near the airport. It's cleared and scraped, and looks like it'll
be a business park sometime in the future, but for now, it's awesome and huge. There are some small weeds, but they didn't even slow me down. If
anyone's interested in joining me, I plan to hit it up again tomorrow after work. Isabel & W. Jack London, 94550

Huge! The only areas I've really explored much are across the street from one another. One is a very large commercial lot with a couple of dirt piles
that were a hoot. It's completely scraped. The other, which I didn't even notice 'til I had been blasting around for about an hour, makes the first
one look tiny. The main stretch runs north/south (perfect for the forcasted west wind today) and is maybe five blocks long. Maybe longer, as I just
kept turning around about there. It takes me quite a while to make one pass. Check it out on google earth. The street I mentioned is not opened yet
(read barricaded) but one can easily drive around. It's not shown on Google as it's too new. There are other fields around there too, these are just
the only two I've checked so far. The street was pretty fun too! Nearly all my experience, which isn't much, has been at schoolyards. Just as I get up
to speed I have to wang it around. Not so at this site. You can just go and go... Sliding in the smooth dirt was a blast.
