Thai odyssey

For those who don't know, we're on Koh Samui at the moment... it's an island in the Gulf of Siam - I assume :o

Wind isn't up to much - it's the off-season... but the relaxation is top-notch!

I gotta give a shout-out to my man Buzzinasia for hooking us up with his villa - it's #@%$#!ING AWESOME!!!
https://sites.google.com/site/spavillas/

OMG it's SO nice! Little fenced in compound, nice and private and peaceful.
Feeling hot? Rip yer clothes off and jump in the pool - nobody can see your bobbing white buttocks!
Big ol' comfy bed - no more wife pushing me off the side!
Cooking facilities, fridge and water cooling - cheap living on local food!
WiFi and LAN unlimited access!
Close to healthy spa (you should see the missus trying to do yoga big LOLs) and assorted yummy restaurants.
Even a carpark... all in a secure area!

We even got an army of geckos to eat bugs and a one-legged cricket I keep having to rescue from the pool

If you get the chance - you gotta try this!

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...

No spam! I just wanted to share my joy

From today though, we're off to slum it in a regular hotel :( but hopefully we can spend our last 2 or 3 nights here too.

Not going to Hua Hin... on the island the whole time. Doing as little as possible ;)

Moved into a cheaper hotel - $25 a night - but it's the opposite side of the island from the spots Buzz showed me.

Yesterday, the wind was blowing good and I was about to load up the car and head off when I thought that I should have a look at the beach the hotel is connected too.

Well whaddya know, best bloody beach I've seen and it's cross-on! ni-iiice!

An awesome session last night, at a new location... knee-deep water (yikes!) but butter-flat and thermal driven wind that is super-clean.

All good things must come to an end... we spent our last 2 nights back in the villa (luxury!) and am packing now.

The score...

Epic sessions - 2
Gravy sessions - 2
Crappy sessions - 2
Skunked - 2 (ie. set up the kite or tried to ride)

Broken spreader bar - 1
Narrowly missing being killed by a mega-squall - 1
Ripping the D-ring off the new harness after boosting a huge jump then getting unhooked on landing in the squall - 1

Gear I didn't need to take - 3 (13m kite, small board and small board bag)

Elephant boobies - 4

#@%$#!s'n'giggles - 1,001

For the "off" season for kiting here, it was pretty good! And I feel relaxed and refreshed... now, back to the daily grind :(

Yeah... I got a kite. Or two...
