who else has bad timing when shopping??
Don't know how many people here are into computers, but I gotta have the worst luck and timing when I buy stuff. Three weeks ago I bought a GTX560ti
448 cores classified ultra edition graphics card to replace my 5 year old 8800gt. When I built my computer that 5 years ago 1 month later everything
new and better came out and my build was now half the price I paid. Today I get the e-flyer from where I bought my card to find that if I waited that
3 weeks, I could been getting a GTX660ti superclocked edition for $8 more than what I paid. This has happened to me a few times in the past and
couldn't help but wonder how many people found themselves in similar scenarios??? Sorry to rant just needed to get it off my chest.

It's technology... it's obsolete less than 10 seconds out the door.
If you're doing personal builds it's even more true as there is some time between gathering all the components (my power and resets switches were
machined brushed stainless steel).
Unless you are searching for alien life among the stars, the cure for cancer, or the perfect cheesecake recipe... chances are that you are not going
to notice the difference in FPS/MIPS/MFLOPS.
If you do notice the difference, it's only going to get worse, as your hard disk fragments, system files gets corrupted, updated/patches gets applied,
the Registry or the Mac equivalent gets loaded up with crap that never gets cleaned out, etc., etc., etc. ad nauseum.
If you waited the 3 weeks, chances are you would have stayed on the bleeding edge about 3 months longer. Over 5 years, I am not sure how much of a
difference that makes.

Sam

Yes, bad timing.......I find that available money and kite deals on this forum seldom come together at the right time.

I have a similar problem. I drag my feet and see if the new thing is all it is hyped up to be. I get convinced and buy in right as the newer, faster ,
brighter one comes out.
What gets me is how fast new becomes old. You can't get parts for the original Iphone already! 3 or so years ago it was " all you needed " now they
tell me it's a brick.

yes I probably am gonna get by just fine with what I bought. The newest is a fair bit better all around than what I got but it is what it is. Just
like Bladrunner, I waited for a few months humming and hawing to see if it was what I wanted to buy thinking that I was still months away from seeing
this new card at the price I paid. Its just funny how the market moves so fast in making that new thing old. Yeah even waiting to get the best deal on
a used kite seems to just come up after the money has been spent elsewhere because I got tired of waiting or the other thing became more of a
priority.
Next Year I'm putting this computer in the bedroom and building a completely new all around build to play on the big screen. Hopefully I have better
timing that then.....unless I find myself the owner of a shiny new kite or two first.
