Ballistic Phoenix 2.2 quad line?
Nice looking and very affordable quad line traction trainer kite, ......but is it a good kite to learn quad line traction flying on?, .......or is
this just another piece of junk from the east that barely flies and is more suited to gathering dust in the attic of unuseable purchases?
Your experience and knowlege is more valuable that the hype of the online retailers, who prey on uninformed beginners such as myself.

I do not know much about that kite but if you are interested I could send out a demo ProFoil 2.5m.

Hey AJ, You think you can get some people together to go to East beach Galveston Sat. Aug 5th? I will be there and will have all the ProFoil demos
available to fly.

Thanks for all the advice and comments. Today I took a plunge into the shallow end, and decided on a quad line trainer kite to start with. The Kite I
chose as a beginner was the Ballistic Phoenix 2.2 quad with handles.
I've only heard good news about this kite and the manufaturers products for entry level power kites.
When I get delivery I will certainly fly immediately, and once I get used to the kite after a week or so of intensive flying (providing the universe
brings breezy weather) and I will get back with my "beginners review" in the reviews section of the forum.
Thanks again guys.

Stryker2,
You'll enjoy the kite.
You're right on about paying attention to the wind.
I question you're lumping all kite retailers as some predatory sub-human species, using hype and duplicity to snare the unwary.
No doubt some have jumped on the kite-selling bandwagon, hoping to make some quick money, with little or no regard for the players or the sport.
Just as you read reviews and listen to the experiences of other flyers to choose among brand names, based on performance and durability and value, so
the good retailers rely on the recommendations of their satisfied customers to build a solid foundation of kiters enjoying this sport.
The vote you have that really counts (not just once every 4 years) is the one in your wallet. Spend your money like you were voting.
Lower prices may seem like an advantage, like we're "getting over" on someone, but those "discount kite-sellers" know the value of their work.
They tend to come-and-go with great rapidity, leaving the marketplace in tatters.
Skimming the cream off a sport they did nothing to help create nor perpetuate.
In the bigger picture, it is all of us who suffer.
Fewer quality retailers carrying fewer quality kites.
Fewer sources for the specialist-items.
Fewer entry-level flyers finding the success they need to continue with kites.
Ultimately, there are still some of us left with a deep and abiding passion for this sport, who are also retailers.
We tend to care a great deal about our customers and finding what is appropriate for them.
In this cookie-cutter world, where we're all lumped together, expected to all like the same things, that personal part of kiting is alive and
thriving.
Treasure the good kite retailers you find.
Tell your friends.
Notice the great value you've received and balance that against the cost.
I think you'll find you come out way ahead.
But what do I know?
Safen Up! Buggy On!

Thanks!
Yes I'm very weary of all the retailers and manufacturers hype, that's why I took my time to do some research with kite flyers themselves, as to where
to begin and I must say, most of the advice I received made good sense. I have no doubt I will enjoy my 1st. quad line beginner traction kite
experience.
My next step up will probably be a 3.5m which should be more than enough to allow me to scud with ease on a moderately windy day. That will be next
summer.
