Slingshot Octane 10m Complete
Such a fun kite! Loads of depower 100% depower range
This is a 5th line kite. Super easy, very forgiving, stable, yet fast. Bladders all good. Repairs on the canopy but doesn't affect performance at all. Got caught in a tree one day. Bomb proof tape on both sides. $140 with bar and lines/bag. I paid $900 for it new. Still performs great out there.

For those looking, this is a C kite. Yes, the final year of the octane was a SLE model, but this is a C kite.

A great C kite, but a C kite.

Tide? What's a tide? Man, it's 1000 miles to any ocean.

Octane Great C kite with depower

This is the easiest C kite ever built. Has all the bells and whistles that the new ones have today. 5th line is still easier than any 5th line bar out there.
C kites are making a come back and are out there.
I fly it today 2012 on land and water. (one of my backups) Even with all the new technology out there kite is awesome. Still a fantastic kite that Slingshot developed. Self launches great on the water and I self launch and land it on land too. I get in trouble I pull the 5th line hard and spin the kite around to where the wind doesn't catch it again. I see people in trouble all the time getting drug on newer kites and they have to learn technique. My advice spend the money and take lessons as they teach you self rescue, releasing your kite, etc. They teach about safety as a lot of beg. bypass and don't know about. TAKE LESSONS! Those Switchblades they aren't beg kites (bow style kite that it is). Very powerful fast kite! Old school depower strap which gets stuck allt he time, takes two hands to pull it down to depower. Old switchblades or crossbows 2007's had issues and one was turning inside out with their long bridles and that ain't fun very dangerous. This kite has no bridles.
5th line is the best 5th line out there and depowers quickly.
C kites got the bad rap but don't worry because your bow style, new style kites out there still loft in gusty dust devil winds. They will loft you just like the old C kites. Nothing safe about kiting period so newbies take lessons and learn about safety, how to watch the weather, etc. It is important! Kiting is a dangerous and extreme sport.
Difference is the bar mostly as it only has so much depower on them. More bar pressure feel but the Octane I hang on and balance with two finger tips and I can let the bar go like a Peter Lynn it is so stable. People are so scared of them. This is a forgiving kite even for a beg and he can advance into as well. For an older kite it is ahead of its time. Don't keep writing me back unless you are interested in buying something. People do research before they buy. Appreciate your advice telling people it is a C kite. C style kite with a huge depower range!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
