What do you guys think of these?? I talked to the manufacturer and he is making a production run in about 2 weeks. He said the new process of cooling the aluminum cast has greatly improved the wheels so they are true compare to past production runs. I thought about getting some for testing on the hard pack and also at NABX next year. Are these types of wheels of any interest to anyone in the USA?? I know most people use barrows or bigfoots on the beach. I haven't had a chance to test my motorcycle wheels out on my speed buggy yet. Winds has been low here.

If anyone is interested, I can add your order to my order. These will come directly from the factory in China so shipping will be cheaper than ordering from Europe.

So these will be tubeless?
I have a Sysmic and it looks like the 17" will fit nicely, Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

You can put a clear spoke cover on it. It would be a waste of a nice looking wheel to put an opaque cover on it and hide those cool spokes. :o

It would freak me out to have that big fan blade of a wheel sittin right behind me. Waitin.... for a body part! Gives me the creeps,you guys be safe w/ them scary wheels. Regular spoke wheels are bad enough,but I could get my LEG through those. I'm not knockin em',they are damn sexy... However.... they NEED a cover for love of your limbs. Just sayin....

The first set from this year's production came in last week. I have some tires on order so should be here this week. Since it took so long, Chris went ahead and ship one set by air freight and the rest by boat.

They look awesome. The new production changes result in a perfectly true rim with good symmetry. I will have this set at DBBB 2012 for those that comes to the event to check out.

I really love running disc wheels on my Apexx. Loads of grip, smoother ride due to larger diameter, and there is no wobble ever. Tires don't seem to have worn at all after 90 miles on the surface at Ivanpah. I think the discs could run anywhere regular barrows are ok.

Does that mean my wheels are on the way? Or are my wheels treading water for a bit longer?

The other sets are treading water for atleast another month. If you want, I might be convinced to ship you this set after I show it off at dead bird. They will have tires mounted but will not be used so you can have them plus the price of the tires.

I am setting my bug up as an old school style with a big hood scoop, and side pipes with white wall tires. Do the tires on the demo wheels got white walls? I really like white wall tires, the big 8" white walls not the skinny ones. I think the big white walls will help make the bug faster for the Kite Drags.

I can throw in a can of white paint spray.

Got the tires today .. it was a little tricky but I was able to get them on with my bare hands,feet, and a little soap. Yeap .. had to get on all four .. haha...

Those look really nice. I wonder if you can get the tires off with plastic tire tools. I guess so if you got them on by hand.

I actually did get them off the first time because I forgot to put the inner tubes into the tires first. I imagine if you can find a way to break the bead ( not really tight) then you can just rip them out with your hands. It took me about 5 minute to force them one with 2 hands and 2 feet .. haha. It took about 45 seconds to pull them off when I realize you need to put the inner tubes in first.

The 8 inch wheels are impossible to get a tire off, not enough dish for the bead to drop into. I imagine the extra diameter helps make things easier.

Yes, I noticed that also. These 17" has a huge drop in the middle so it was very easy to get off. Almost like bicycle tires, just grab it and pull it off the rims. The tires I got are tubeless so the bead is not set as tight. I believe I can break the bead off with my hand, and maybe an extra foot ..

Also the distance from bead to bead is only 2.5" so I actually put both bead on and off at the same time. It was much easier then doing one side at a time.

I know these kind of wheels are made for firm ground, but how do you think they would work on grass?

They look like bmx wheels so I don't see why they wouldn't work.

I've run mine at the soccer park and they do very well. With the larger diameter, they roll over grass clumps more easily when getting rolling. With the small contact patch, grip is very good as well.
