Ok- What are the best Buggy Engines out there? Looking for high priced and basement bargains.

I don't have that much experience or basis for comparison but I love my bullets.

Great questions few variables such as race kites v cruisers and depower v FB..........as far as cruisers with speed, stability, and low end the 19m Speed 2, 12m Pulse 2, and 10m Pulse.......FB with low end and speed the 8.5m Blade 3, 6.5m Ozone Method, and 3.5m Reactor 2......

Add in the phantoms for upwind and speed.............

Are you looking for someones opinion, or are you looking for comparisons?
I can only think of a handful of people who have the ability to compare 5 or more buggy engines with out being bias towards the most common brands here in the US. Not to say there are some who buy and sell a few dozen before they find what they are looking for.

Are you looking for the most known brands in the US or Europe or China?

I guess I'm asking, do you want an opinion, or are you looking for proof?

Lets break it down to Fixed and then depower. Your right about 5 being too many! So everyone just give their best known kite- don't have to own it either.

My vote is for Bullets as Maine Kites stated- good constant pull, low lift and quick turning.

What makes a good buggy kite ?

Some want low lift and tons of pull. Some want speed and will accept some lift.

Maybe you are asking , what are the top 5 race kites at the world cup?

Are we talking about beginner kites, intermediate, or race?

I got a bunch of Zebra kites to try out, and thats a buggy engine that this part of the word has missed out on, along with the Vampir, and the Spirit. They are great kites, but not for everyone. As are all the other kites we all fly.

As my team riders are finding out, they are flying the Combats. Not that they have to, but they want to.

This could get into a good debate.:D

Boy you guys are tough! Best kite for "average" kiter who owns a buggy and flies when they can- not racer.

It really is an open ended question. When people start buggying (or any kind of kiting for that matter) they may have what others would call a beginner to intermediate level kite. But to that person it gets them doing what they want it to do and that kite will seem like the best kite to them. Almost all kites are good - different build quality and different performance levels and also what you use in light wind might be a kite of one type while in high wind maybe you want something with more stability depending on how you ride. And if you are talking budget - is it the best kite under this price or best kite no matter what the price. And finally every kite has it's day - you can go out and be frustrated by a kite one day because of the conditions and swear you'll never touch it again, then another day it will perform like no other and you'll fall in love with it.
I think you'll get a wide mix of responses, but the question is always good.

The PKD Century is what I fly now when I can handle the power. The PKD Buster is great for Beginners I think there is a small gap between the Century and the Buster and for that I liked the Vipers. So I agree with WG #1 money can buy? The Century II

I don't race, but I do like to go fast, I also like to have nice park and rides, therefore, in my personal quiver, it's all Phantoms all the time!

If I were to go for FB, The Reactor II, not quite a race kite, but damn close!

In my buggy now I really only fly Race kites in low to medium wind. My favorite at the moment is the PL Vapor.

Before that and still in high wind, I love my Reactor II's and Blurr's. I do like the Ozone Method in higher winds...I don't really use it in lower winds because IMHO, it lacks the power that the other two listed kites provide.

Ozone Methods, PKD Centurys, HQ Beamers now THE Toxic I believe, and Peter Lynn Reactors, all deliver great performance just outside the race kite class. Also the Mac Begos if you can find one and get a little air time is an excellent choice as well. Ive owned, flown, or currently own the kite's listed above and their are no poor choices listed with the Mac Para being less friendly initially. I think the Cents are the most powerful per sq meter, the Reactor being the fastest thru the window and driving far forward in the window and the Method overall the most user friendly in terms of less bridling, easiest to fly, and stability...........as far as size get to know your avg wind speeds for each month as well as seasonal changes, you'll probably need 3 kites to cover your winds........ just my opinion and good luck with your choice(s)...............:wow::dunno:

I think when it comes to top 5 average guys best buggy engine it will be the 5 in their bag !

I am extremely happy sticking with my Phantom and Synergy when I move to the buggy. I'm sure I'm alone on the Synergy at least . Unfortunately top 5 is just too subjective at that level.

I think " what are the top 5 race kites " and " top 5 beginer kites " would both be easier to list?

Best kite is pretty ambiguous; I think my Reflexes are the most fun to fly. They make my old Bullets seem like compete slugs - just ask the guys I sold them to.

Bladerunner, I can attest to enjoying the synergies in the buggy so brothers in arms dude. I must say I don't think you would be disappointed with the Phantom IIs. They have fast turning speed without the fear that they will spin around and go the other direction when you glance away. I can appreciate the immediacy of a high strung fixed bridle kite but in the wildly variable fall winds we are having right now, I've enjoyed the flexibility of depower in the buggy.

Here's my list - not in any particular order.

Ozone Method
Peter Lynn Reactor II
Peter Lynn Phantom (1 or 2)
HQ Toxic
Flexifoil Blurr

This list consists of kites that I feel are very easy to fly, very predictable, have enough performance to really test a pilot when speed is wanted but are not full-on race foils that can be twitchy/tricky to fly. The power is solid on the lower end so powering through debris, sand, grass etc... will be easier to do as well as providing excellent upwind performance. The quality is top notch so they will last without issues like material breakdown, bridle stretching, seam rips etc...

Again not in any particular order, they are all excellent kites. There are also others but this would be my choice for a good quality, solid, all-rounder performance kite for most average to advanced riders.

pulls and keeps pulling upwind ,fast and responsive .
ideal in 12 to 15 mph . hit my pb with this kite 39.9 mph

So many kites, each have their good points it depends what you want.
The 8 m toxic is a dream in 5-8knots or more if you want, low lift predictable handling. While a 6.5m method is barely flying, you are zooming along.

No one particular kite will do everything, if you just want convenience, try a 10m ozone access it will pull a buggy in 5-20 knots quite a range, clearly you wont be the quickest on the block, but you won't have to swap kites too often.

I may be biased by my quiver, but I picked them for a reason,... I favor PL Viper S and PL Core.

I love the Viper cuz of how easy it is to fly, but I haven't had it out in the bug yet.

I love the Core because of how much it pulls and yet is still easy to fly, I've really gotten moving with my 5m in the bug, and just recently have figured out jumping,... I've gotten some good air with the 5m as well.

I have heard people also say before that the Core is "light in the handles" and I think I agree with this,... though I'm not sure I have anything to compare it to.
