It is snowing in Calgary tonight

24C (75F) yesterday and SNOW tonight:wee:
The ground is still too warm for any accumulation but it looks like a promising early season if the forecasts hold up.

Good to hear, I don't think it can get much worse than last year. Around here there was barely enough to keep the ground white. Let's hope for more this winter.

Oh man, I'm so jealous! It will be December at least before we get any snow in Scotland and its not reliable snowkite conditions until Mar/Apr!

Pretty short season really but I always get a few precious days in and get some kite time on my snowboarding trips to the Alps.

I had to look and see what you were talking about, looks like about a 20 hour drive from home to play in the Alps.
Thats about the same for me to go to NABX(were there is NEVER any snow, but I will more than likely chain up at least once on the way there and once on the way back).:shocked2:

23 hours if I drive it. I usually get 2 planes... one to Glasgow then on to Geneva. you still waste a day travelling and waiting around in airports. All worth it :)

There is some sub-artic plateau at about 4000' in the cairngorm mountains in mainland Scotland which is perfect for snow kiting but in winter is more ice than snow unless you catch a fresh fall so you need to wait until the days are warm enough to soften it.

NABX sound great though I don't buggy much. Cool sounding event though.

Whoop whoop my first season of snowkite is coming up fast!!
I haven't even made my new kite yet, I better get in gear before it sticks and I miss out on a day... the 1M NPW is not going to be very powerful hahaha

There was lots of snow out here on the east side of Calgary on the ground, not just the roofs!
