You could get lucky and get one that flies o.k., but then you might get one that won't fly at all, or like junk, and then who do you go to? If you buy a name brand from a reputable dealer, you have customer support. If your budget is small, you would be better served by buying used from this forum. You are likely to get a decent deal on a proven, if somewhat used, kite.(and you can check the seller on the good seller list)

I have a couple that wouldn't fly at all, they make great car covers for wife's Del Sol.
I even have one that failed at being a car cover, go figure.

In other words, don't by Chinese.

We would just hate to see you spend even $60.00 and be frustrated and dissatisfied, when you could spend maybe a little more and be happy you did. Welcome to the madness.

One china kite company that tries real hard is www.Pansh.com

Their kites are a bit more than $60 but odds of getting one that flies well and lasts are much greater.

All power kites except Revolution and a short list of a few others are made in China. So I guess you are asking about the off-brands that show up on E-Bay? Bladerunner just referred to Pansh, which I think are crap unless you have the skill sets needed to overcome their occasional production faults and idiosyncrasies (and lack of documentation). The problem with them is that that their low prices attract newbies that do not have the skill sets to deal with these deficiencies.

The difference with the name brands who build kites in China (or Vietnam or Sri Lanka) is that they visit the factories regularly, hold their wontons to the fire and enforce quality control standards that meet their own design objectives and design standards. And that is a lot of work right there that does not happen with your mainstream consumer merchandiser.

Yes of the Pansh kites I would recommend the Flux at $109 for the 3m. I have a 4m proto type of the Flux and it is my goto kite. They have made ALOT of improvement over there earlier models with the Flux.

Disclaimer: I am sponsored by Pansh, but I do not have to talk them up if I don't want to.

Hey Big_d
I saw you posted a description of your first flight with the 6M Bronco on another forum - you bought kite only - do you have a harness? Sounds like a stupid question but I've seen people struggling to fly a number of times with mis matched set ups or no harness etc. I saw you said it barely flew in 18 knots and then you got dragged a few times.
Be careful - the Broncos have power but by todays kites standards they don't have the range of de-power. here in Ontario I flew Bronco 18, 16, 12, 10 - never owned a 6. And even now it's just lately with some high wind days that I've pulled out my 6 and 7m kites - most of the time it's anything up to 17.5. You are just getting that kite in what we usually call rocktober - when the winds turn on.
Get a small kite to learn some basic instinct about flying - be careful if you head to Ashbridges to fly. It's not as busy in the fall but don't go slamming an LEI all over the beach anywhere near people otherwise you'll have other kiters coming over to give you a safety lecture.

There are often a lot of used trainer kites that pop up for sale locally - heck there was a brand new one sitting up in the trees for the last month down at Long Pt - a bit faded and wind tattered by now.
I'll check around to see if I have anything here that might suit you or if friends have anything to pass along.

markite, thanks man I would appreciate it that would be awesome, I dont really have a proper harness, I kind of improvised one to start with, a workout belt thats used for sled pulling, I do plan to get a proper one by snowfall,

basically i bought the 6m ocean rodeo bronco off kijjiji for 250 with lines and bar which i thought was good to start out with, but now i'm hearing not too good things it and thinking about getting rid of it and maybe looking for something a little more recent,
